What Students Say
Likes
- The faculties and professors teach really well.
- Environment of the college is very good and everyone around is very helpful
- Seniors are very friendly and helpful. They don't bully us rather consider us as their friends.
Dislikes
- The teachers usually communicate and teach in bengali which makes it difficult for outstation students to understand.
- There's a groupism going on between the west bengal board students and cbse students
- Usually the WB students don't communicate with the CBSE students because they are in majority.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is a bit confusing. In jaipuriya there are 2-3 faculties for the same subject which makes it difficult for us to get into the subject properly. The curriculum tends to be more of theoretical rather then practical. It has very few relevance with the real life scenarios.
Fees and Financial Aid
The complete cost of my college education is around 7-10k per year. There are alot of scholarships like akhyashree, Anil Chandra Gupta Memorial Studentship, Bhupendranath Memorial Scholarship, Nalinakhya Dutta Stipend and kanyashree. There was this notice from CU that it's compulsory for all students to do an internship conducted by the college during summer vacations but till now we haven't got any notice from the college side regarding the same. Many of my friends studying in different CU colleges have already completed the internships.
Campus Life
There's no such thing called clubs in our college and I think in most of the CU colleges. Very few co-curricular activities are undertaken that too the faculties don't support it. I remember when I took part in inter College dance competition I had a major loss of attendance. No grace was provided by the college for the same. The infrastructure in also very poor. The fan in our classroom makes very much noise which disturbs us while studying. There's no such dance room or seoarate rooms for other activities. We don't have a play ground as well.
Admission
The cut off for bcom hons. Was around 80% for our college. One thing which was disturbing is that we had to fill separate forms for each CU college (whichever we are interested in) but in other universities like Du they had one single form for all the DU affiliated colleges so it was an easier option for students to check the colleges. It was quite a big task to fill separate forms for each and every CU college out there which was available in the respective college's website.
Faculty
The faculties are less as compared to the classes. Usually the faculties are late in classes. Sometimes they don't even take the classes without any prior information which wastes alot of time of the students. We can easily interact with the teachers they are always up for helping us but the fact that they speak more of bengali it gets difficult sometimes to communicate.
