Course Curriculum Overview

4

Individual responses to the course and curriculum may vary. My experience with overall course was good. However, i feel difficulties in understanding physics, chemistry, and biochemistry. People from non-science background also joins our course that's why i feel that college and faculty should focus on these subject and should increase the number of lectures and practicals for these science-basef subjects. Other subject like textile sciences and communication are good with syllabus. Thess subject has helped me gain knowledge about real India, the cultural values of India, and how India is changing.

Fees and Financial Aid

As i mention earlier, i feel the overall fees of college in high (I am not comparing to other colleges) It almost cost me around 90,000 (completed fees of course) and after that we have to submit examination fees, practical fees, and other essential of practical course like textile or biochemistry, we have to bring our own needs. College has very limited scholarshipe based on semester performance. However, we also get laptops for studying other purposes. I also accessed one it was in really good confitioned k used it for like 2 years and it worked well. CRC's faculty is really cooperative and its very simple 2-step process to access. One thing here I want to highlight if we are doing any intership during college need to get a sign NOC from administration. Administration takes really 2 months to signs a NOC, which is a drawback. We even missed many opportunities due to this time taking procedure.

Campus Life

The best thing about the college you will love if you love to read is 'Library'. Lady Irwin College has a beautiful library that has thousands of books, novels, and biographies. The architecture of library is mesmerising. It has ancient furnitures, opne windows, proper ventilation, and greenary view. I had spended most hours of my college in library. It provide free wifi to students to use their laptops, proper circulalar tables has been placed for practical or group study. Almost every book of the curriculum is available, you can also find the collection of previous year question papers easily here. Apart from curriculum, they also has a good collection of novels and journals. The only drawback is they issue them for one day and if you want to keep it for longer time you every day has get your card updated.

Admission

During my tenure, we get admission through the percentage of our 12th board marks. However the polocies has changed now. For admission in our college now students has to attempt CUET UG exam and then have to score as per the cut off list. Application form. Our college offers only three course in graduation. Eligibility for Bachelors in Home science, students from any background (humanities, commerce, and science) can apply. But for B.Sc Honours and Bachelors in Food Technology students must have chemistry and physics in their 11th and 12th as its a complete science-based course. Cut off list generally goes 89-93% but seats are researved for ST/SC and OBC candidates. Admission form released on the website and its generally a simple form that ask for personal details, educational qualification, and documents as proof. After clearing cut off, college verify documents in physical form. This procedure takes time as college has limited 4-5 members in administration department.

Faculty

During my tenure (2020-23), I really get the best teacher and faculty. Teaching staff here is very punctual and takes class as per the scheduled. We were always welcomed to ask question and they always cleared our doubts. Not only in studies but during the time of society meeting and other activites professor's had showed their level best of understanding. I still remeber that to make us understand the real value of 'on ground work' our DCE Department's faculty organised a programme 'Shaksharta Hi Samman' and we worked with two NGOs who os wroking for the education of women in rural areas. These things are really priceless, we practical knowledge of grond work, has given me the understanding of my subject and my role in the nation.

I will rate 10 out of 7 to this course curriculum because in this course the experiment and lab works is too low as compare to another courses like biomedical science, bsc zoology and many more. But it's ok I'm happy with this course.

Students become eligible for placements on the 3rd year, we have decent placement opportunities but not the best, highest package is around 15 lakhs. Companies that visit are Bain and Co., Urban Clap etc. average package is around 5 lakhs. My plans after getting the degree are getting into a master's programme and pursuing research.

the college has an active placement cell however we as science kids do not rely on it much as it is majorly commerce dominated. There isnt much placement or internship recognition for science kids but it is acitvely improving with more professionals gracing our college campus with new opporunities every now and then.
