Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I was interested in history that's why I took this course and there is a lot of craze about DU so this is the only reason why I took admission in DU. Mine was history so they took us on many study tour like Rakhigarhi. And when you interact with a lot of people of different region of our country, you learn a lot about the real world. I was never in any society but my sister is so I can see how her personality has changed after joining society. Only studying in DU will not help, If you really want to live your life and want to know the real world then you should join societies although they give a lot of work but you should know how to manage because this is what we have to do in real life. I think management should focus more on supervising on teachers' attendance because teachers are also the reason behind short attendance of students. We used to wait for 4-5 hrs but at the time of class they give a msg to CR that class is cancelled.

Internships Opportunities

4

The Placement Cell of Dyal Singh College invites reputed companies with profiles in various fields such as Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Content Writing, Articl ship, etc. Recruiter companies which come to Dyal singh are WIPRO, TCS, Swiggy, Indigo etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

I think course is very affordable. Although colleges can work more on their campus. I don't remember the exact amount but it cost me around 25,000-35,000 (for whole course) which is very much affordable if we compare with the pvt. Institutes. There was provision for scholarship and they transferred 1500 when we graduated.

Campus Life

5

In Dyal Singh College, the annual fests name is PRIYADARSHINI and it happens during feb-mar. Our library has a lot of books from different genre. Collection of books is really good in dyal singh college. In our college there are facilities for physically disable people and there were many students of my class used to come college who were physically disable. Teachers allow them to record lectures (which is generally not allowed). In our college there are basketball court and volleyball court. There are many societies like Jamini(Art&Craft), Rudra(classical & semi classical dance), Roots(music), Spilled Ink(creative writing), zest(pop dance), TravelX(Travelling society), Vikirya(for LGBTQ), Enactus and many more. These societies help a lot it shaping your personality, interactive skills and socializing skills. I have seen my sister who is in Jamini.

Admission

For my course there was no special eligibility required. You should've cleared your board exam (12th) and if you're from a different stream and you didn't have history then there will me some deduction from your best 4. This thing was there before CUET but now you will have to clear CUET and choose colleges from most favourable to least favourable. After your result they will tell you in which colleges you can apply and you have to apply within some days. Taking admission is compulsory otherwise if you wait for 2nd cut off and choose not to take admission in any college then you're eliminated from the race. After taking admission if you want to wait for 2nd cut off then you can wait and if you want to take admission in 2nd cut off then you have to first cancel your admission from 1st one (which is not so complicated procedure)

Faculty

3.5

For Core classes faculty-to-student ratio is good and for GE and AECC it is, for 70-80 students there is one professor. My sister is doing her graduation from DU and she told me that for VAC it is, for students more than 100 there is 1 professor. For core it is good but other courses it definetly affects study as interaction in those courses will be very low

Course Curriculum Overview:

British classics, Indian writing, postcolonial literature builds a strong foundation in literary analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation, which are useful skills. As for comprehensiveness, the curriculum is quite broad. It covers multiple literary periods, genres, and critical theories over the three years, so you’re not really missing out on the essentials. In that sense, it feels academically complete. But sometimes, it leans more towards breadth over depth you move quickly from one topic to another.

There's a placement cell and placement drives do happen in college but genuinely the package offered is not really considerable. After the 4th semester students are considered to sit in the placement drives though I would say it is not very efficient and fruitful.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason why I choose this subject because I like history and want to know more about it . History have the best opportunities to pursue the UPSC , Anthropology, archeology and we can learn more about historical researches . The faculty im the department of history is updated and well versed in the field of history and have adopted student friendly teaching methods which make me suggest this subject in JMC to the students who likes to pursue higher studies in history. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester with moderate difficulty level .
