AOT - A brief review

The curriculum is designed by the affiliation university, MAKAUT and very theory oriented,rather than being practically approached. Only the computer science streams are well off with the current curriculum.

Grabbing internships is very hard from the college, as the college creates a fuss about providing NOCs and there are no summer internship programs dedicated for this cause. The college focuses on final year projects more than the internships in the 3rd year and most internships grabbed are off campus at small startups.

On campus placement is extremely bad and has been ever so declining over the past few years. With most placements being grabbed by the students of core dept., and tech companies recruiting very few students from tech branches. The college however boasts a 142 percent placement record, taking into account the multiple offers that a single student gets.

The total fees of Btech in the current semester is 4.3lacs excluding 48k that is taken as skill development fees. Only state scholarships are available for within the state students. Campus employment opportunities do not exist as such. Roi is unsatisfactory.

Campus life is pretty good. The college hosts 2 annual fests, a tech fest and a cultural fest, Arcadia. There are various student clubs like Agile, and Student Chapters of various branches,which organize various seminars throughout the year.

There are 2 hostels present on campus,one each for boys and girls. Most students opt for nearby messes or pgs which are way cheaper and less strict in terms of rules and in times. Hostels however have various facilities like generators and sports rooms, but have strict rules regarding in times.

The college accepts admission only through WBJEE and JEE mains(later phase). The cutoffs for cse goes upto around 18k and that for CSBS goes to 22k. Students opting for lower branches can get admission even at 50k ranks in wbjee.

Professors are all well qualified and hold mtech and phd degrees from iits around the country. But the teaching styles and methodologies are not at par with other top colleges in the state. More focus is put on bookish knowledgeable than practical knowledge.
