Course Curriculum Overview

5

I choose this course as I love to go in research field. And this course opens the option to be an resercher or forensic scientist. As this course is related to the living world, human life, microorganisms, all the things which are in our environment in us. This course is preparing us for the exact applications of real world and for our future academic pursuits by providing the knowledge about the surrounding creatures, environment and about us. This course is so interesting but can be more interesting if we use the real world applications instead of just reading the books or performing the preperformed experiments. The teaching methods can become more interesting by using 3D animation for the topics. If you have studied with your full heart then the exam is so easy.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Various internship are offered and in even semester we have also a internship fest, in which various companies come with their respective internships. Doing internship will give you extra knowledge and also boost your CV.

Placement Experience

4

The average placement amount of college is 6.7 LPA. Highest is 23 LPA. Biomedical department does not have so many placement options. So you can look for other options such as you can apply for masters for higher studies, have a PhD then apply for being a professor. We can go for the research field. Or we can look forward to continue masters from outside India as in foreign countries biomedical science have more scope.

Fees and Financial Aid

Course fee is 32350 including all compulsory charges. We are also chance to take concession fee, given to students selected by teachers after the interaction with thide students who have filled to concession fee form, and given to the 4-5 students who need that more.

For are department, the council organise seminars through out the year, which are so informative.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel's accommodation is around 110 students, which is only allotted to first year students. After first year we have to find flat or pg to shift. Hostel's fee vary with the student's category, in which 10,000 is refundable when we leave the hostel. It provides 4 time meal with good quality food. Menu is decided by the warden mam which can we change with the majority of the students if needed. Taking food to the room from the mess is not allowded. In rooms we are provided with a bed, almirah, book shelf, study table, and chair. Other than this student has to take their own things including matress, bucket, mug etc,. There's only fan in the room, and if you want to keep the cooler then you have to perchage it on your own and have to give extra 3000 to the hostel for it. Have a laundry room, especific days are assigned accordingly to the room no for laundry turn. Have kitchen on every floor in which we are provided with a induction, microwave, and a fridge for youn own use.

Faculty

4.5

Effectiveness and qualifications of the faculty members is such a concerning thing as it shapes the life and future of thousands of students. And I'm lucky that my future is in safe hands. My department faculty is so nice. They interact with us ( students ) make us understand the things not just in studies but with our personal things. They support us mentally and emotionally. Ofcourse they scold us sometimes or you can say most of the times but only for our own well being. They are always available whenever we need them. The teaching methods varies with each as everyone has their own way to teach, and they are expert in their work.

Indira Gandhi National Open University - [IGNOU], Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematics)
Reviewed on Sep 5, 2025(Enrolled 2024)

Placement Experience:

Placements in IGNOU are quite limited compared to regular universities. Since IGNOU is an open and distance learning university, it does not have a strong campus placement system like DU or private colleges. There is a Campus Placement Cell (CPC) that conducts job fairs and recruitment drives at some regional centers, but these are not very frequent and mostly depend on the location. Usually, students who are in their final year or have completed the course can apply, but there is no fixed semester rule since the system is flexible. The companies that visit are not very large in number and vary every year. Some private firms, NGOs, BPOs, insurance companies, and small IT firms have participated in the past. The roles are generally entry-level such as sales, customer support, data entry, insurance advisor, or junior IT support. There are very limited opportunities for core mathematics or research roles through placements. As far as packages are concerned, the average package is usually around ?2.5 LPA to ?4 LPA, but since IGNOU is an open university, it cannot be expected to have the same placement levels as regular colleges with full-time classes. Also, the percentage of students placed is very small because most IGNOU students are either working professionals, homemakers, or people preparing for competitive exams, so placements are not the main focus. Many students use the degree as a qualification while pursuing their own career path outside. I am currently in my 2nd year, so I do not have personal placement experience yet. The data I have mentioned here is based on internet sources and feedback from other IGNOU students. From what I have learned, placements exist but are very limited, and one should not rely only on them for career building.
