Likes

Design Innovation Centre of UIET is the thing I liked the most a lot of projects take place there .
Campus life is Quite good With diverse people from different states , languages and culture
Many faculty are good at teaching . They teach good by engaging students.

Dislikes

In some branches there are faculty who are not permanent but guest faculty takes lecture .
There are no on campus placements opportunity for students .
The infrastructure of college is decent average

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is not very aligned with the industry requirements. The curriculum must be made more industry-relevant and each year must be modified according to needs of the market. There are tests and Mid sem exams that take place two times a semester and end-sem exams . Mid sem exams are of 1.5 hrs of 30 marks and end-sem exams of 3 hours and 50 marks

Placement Experience

In 7 semester students are eligible for placements. About 50+ companies visit campus every year and 250+ offers were made to students. The highest package this year has been 42 LPA average 9.1 LPA . Profiles offered are Software Development Engineer, Data Analyst etc. The percentage of students placed is about 47.5%. To secure placement in a core ECE Company is my plan after my degree

Fees and Financial Aid

There is fee increase policy every year fee increases by 10%. The complete cost is around 5,00,000 and hostel and food expenses about 2,00,000. There is no scholarship provided by the college itself but you can apply for other scholarships. There are no internships

Campus Life

Goonj Is the annual Techno Cultural fest of UIET it takes place in month of March every year. A library is available on the UIET Campus with an ample number of engineering books. And A big A.C JOSHI LIBRARY is accessible. Projectors are available in classrooms. There is basketball court available in UIET and Atheletic ,cricket and football ground is their in North Campus of Panjab University. A lot of clubs are there of various interests including debating club , IEEE , SAE , Pyschclub , Rotaract club , Autonomy Dance Club, Euphoria music club these clubs engage students in doing what they love to do .

Hostel Facilities

Hostels are decent fans are provided in rooms . Food quality is decent Dal , chana dal ,rajma ,kadhi rice , Chole Puri are made in mess . Registration of Hostel is to be done online on puhms online portal and hostels are allotted on the basis of merit and hostel are quite affordable costing 10,500 a year . The hostel is located in panjab University north campus sector 14

Hostel Fee: INR 10500 per year

Admission

You must have appeared for jee mains exam and must have secured the required rank for getting admission in your respective branch. The admission is done through online counseling of JAC CHANDIGARH Application fees is about 2800. applications started from 1 May 2024. The admission process must be fast and the result of each round must be provided as soon as possible

Many faculties are qualified and hold PhD . Many faculties teach good by engaging students and putting efforts . But 1 out 4 faculty is not good . Faculty Mentors are allotted to students in each semester . Teachers are always approachable they are present in their offices in college and also after working hours by whatsapp . But In some branches guest faculty teaches some subjects

PEC - History and optimism

Likes

The campus is over 100 years old and has strong alumini network.
Placements are good as per my rank in JEE
Peer group is good and there are diversed people all around

Dislikes

Infrastructure is really old; but then again legacy comes at a cost.
Campus is smaller as compared to NITs and IITs ; so is the funding
Its still not an institute of national importance. Has no nation wide recognition

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Likes

Syllabus is good, it is very versatile and updated according to the industry standards
The University also has a good events and also a good night life
The infrastructure is very modern with unique outlets to eat in

Dislikes

There is a uniform system which is very bad according to university
Very strict rules regarding in and out of the University
The outlets in university are quite expensive

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read

SVIET: my turning point

Likes

Special labs for the Super60 students only
Special faculty offered to the super60 batch
DCA interaction classes every week for placement drills

Dislikes

Too much interference in students personal life
Discrimination in fee stucture, uniques and Super60 and non super60(either in terms of facilities or branding) batch
Too much pressure, harrasment, irrelevent burden, abusive behavior of the management and some of the faculty members. Calls, parents for every small thing to make them worried, this is bad specially for the students living far away from their house..

Placement Experience:

As a Btech student, we get elegible in 7th sem for the placement drives virtuos, bebo, Antire are such companies that visits our campus highest package: 800000 LPA lowest: 1,50000 LPA 90% students get placed I would love to go into corporate life after degree

Life at Panjab University

Likes

Student who are eager for there startup gets better chance
Campus life is best students get chance to interact with different departments students
Students politics is major highlight cause it helps one to understand there voting right and value of one vote

Dislikes

Can be seprate hostel for each departments
There is no such bad thing that I came across then monkeys in University campus near hostels
No shop is open in University after 9 pm

Placement Experience:

In our college students need to have 6CGPA to still in campus placements and our college have a Club that overseas all the placement oppertunityies and the placement starts from 7th semester onwards when students starts there seventy semester the company's starts visiting campus for placement and internship opportunity as well

Saga of my life

Likes

Most of the things like stuC(students centre)
One the things I like the most is boys hostel no 8/7
One thing I like the most is the building and structure of gandhi bhavan

The thing I dislike the most is the boys hostel no 6/1
Food of students.centre was also one thing that I dislike tha most
Building of my college that was block 3 that was hated by most students

Placement Experience:

Yes,very good college placements are available in our college.Students of 8 semester that is 4th year students are eligible for campus placement Companies such as TCS,wipro,amex,gemini solutions and etc many more companies are there for placement 60-80% students got placed in the companies with an average package of 8 lakhs and with a highest package of 35 lakhs Iam oriented towards govt jobs and in future if I will be interested in coding sector I will do preparation for off campus and specifically for Rubrik

Nmims Chandigarh for btech review

Likes

Good facilities, really teaches student and give individual attention in class too
Good infrastructure , as it was just built in 2021, the infrastructure is top notch and no complaints about it.
Papers are being checked anonymously, one’s paper can be checked by any teacher in any campus, so no chance of partiality

Dislikes

80% strict attendance criteria other they would not allow to sit in exam
Passing criteria is 40% and grading system is also bery difficult, two D grade is 1 F and more than 2F could lead to year repeat year, not even semster
Alot of assigments, really hectic at times

Placement Experience:

We have avergae package of 12 lpa and 57lpa highest, i am not aware of how mqny placed. As such i have plan to get placed but if things didnt go out as planed then mba or mtech maybe. Our campus just opened recently so there is no much information but our placements are central that means, companies visting mumbai have to visit us too, and u can refer mumbai campus placement for our campus because its counted on central level and not varries campus to campus
