What Students Say
Likes
- the teaching staff is well qualified and the way of explaining the concepts is appreciable.
- there is a well managed library and the librarians are all very cooperative.
- there are many clubs( societies: example debsoc, SAE for coding, autonomy, photography, social welfare , bhangra etc) that help in personal development and increase interaction with others . this also improves our communication skills.
Dislikes
- the girls to boys ratio is quite low, the most negative aspect of any engineering college. in our class we have only 10 girls and 50 boys approximately
- the infrastructure is not very appreciable and there is nothing much to explore in the college campus which makes life at college a bit boring. also the college has a very small campus.
- less companies come for recruitment in core jobs of that particular course.
Course Curriculum Overview
in the first year we have the basic subjects like physics, chemistry, maths, professional communication, evs , basics of electronic and electrical engineering, engineering graphics, digital design. second year onwards the core subjects are taught. three hours of labs are also conducted which help to give practical knowlege of the subjrcts. this also prepares us for real world applications and further academic pursuits. however some improvements might have to be done in the teaching methods like smart classes should be installed in every classroom. also teachers should engage more with students. the majors are of high difficulty level, need extra efforts apart from what teachers have taught.
Placement Experience
the placements are offered for CSE ANDD IT related branches at a large extent. the core placements for all other branches are very less or negligible. the students become eligible for campus placements after the completion of fourth year only. companies such as cisco, servicenow, kpmg and zs associates etc have visited and over 300 students git campus selection.the highest package is of 40 lakh and average is of 7 lakh.
Fees and Financial Aid
at the time of the admission, we have to pay an amount of 40000. this will be considered as the fee for your first semester (or registration fee).then at the end the first semester we have to deposit rupees 81000, which is the fee of your second semester. so in total for all four years, the course fee can range fron 5 to 6 lakh. the fee remains same for all other courses as well. scholarships are provided purely on the basis of merit.
Campus Life
the overall campus life is fun just because of friends. there are many fests held like utsav in the month of october and goonj in the month of february. these are at a very small level. technical fests are rarely held. the library is well managed and has books related to each and every subject in the course curriculum. projectors are installed in classrooms and are used sometimes to demonstrate the ppts. mostly the teachers teach only on the board. there is a sports committee of the college and sports is highly promoted and encourged in the college. extracurricular activities are only done in the clubs or societies of the college.
Admission
i had applied in jossa and received conformation for central university of rajasthan and iiit dharwad. i had to reject them because they were out of my budget and were also quite far from my house. i also applied for thapar(patiala) which i felt to be much more expensive. so i chose this college due to its affordabilty and easiness in travelling to home. also because it is a government college which has a high demand over private colleges. the admission process is purely online through jac chandigarh. it is based on your rank in jee mains exam
Faculty
the faculty to student ratio is appropriate. teachers are helpful and understanding. they clear the doubts of every students. there are in total three exams, out of which two are minors and one major. the major if of 50 marks, minor of 30 and 20 marks are of internal assessment. the marks of minors are decided on the basis of best of two. the course curriculum is very relevant and knowledgeble.
Night Life
ther is nothing much to explore in the college. ther are no cafeterias and gyms. in all there nothing much to hang out in the college. the only facility provided is a canteen, where students spend their break time. there is a library inside the college but it is not 24 hours available. it closes at 5pm in the evening. there are small gyms just inside the hostels. whereas there are many hangout spots outside the college. you can visit many places like the elante mall, sukhna lake, sector 22. sector 15 is the closest from the college and a favourite hangout place for most of the hostelers. the campus timings are from 9 to 5pm. the locality is quite safe to roam about as there are watchmans and other staff available at all times. the day just closes with talking among friends.
