Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is not much theoretical, it is more towards practical things. The order of the curriculum is very specific. The course usually covers most of the syllabus of competitive exams such as jam net jrf etc. The curriculum of physical chemistry requires improvement as it is more towards mathematical derivations and less towards practical applications. The teaching method is also mathematical derivations in board which is boring and hectic. The frequency of exams is not nice according to me because evertime it happens that when we are done with are assignments, practical comes in, and when we are done with practicals theory paper starts. We don't get enough time for preparation. And eventually we end up getting less cgpa. Apart from this teachers are not soft towards giving internal marks. Internal has to be taken seriously.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The placement cell of Maitreyi college provides various internship and job opportunities. Every department also provides internship opportunities to the students chosen by the teachers and students are assigned works according to the topic of the internship program. Regarding the internship programs, the information is widely available in the college website

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of Maitreyi college is Rs14375 per year for bsc hons and for commerce and arts it's around 10-12k. Apart from this examination fee is charged every semester as per the theory and practical subjects students have. For example for every theory subject Rs 400 is charged per subject and for every practical subject Rs 200 is charged per subject. If a subject has theory and practical both it will cost Rs 600. Scholarship opportunities are available in the college on the basis of income. Summer internship, annual projects, are offered to the students by the department.

Campus Life

5

The annual fest of Maitreyi college helds usually at the end of the academic year. The name of the annual fest is Rhapsody. The library of Maitreyi college has wide variety of books collection. Issue and return is very easy. Books can be issued via library card. Issued books are kept for 7 days after that a fine of 2 rupees per day is there. Sports offered by the college are badminton table tennis football cricket basketball volleyball etc. Popular social group of Maitreyi college is NSS. It is a social organisation run by the students where different task are assigned to the students related to social welfare such as giving free education to poor childrens, awareness regarding women empowerment, raising social issues etc.

Admission

Eligibility criteria for chemistry hons - student must have physics chemistry and maths in class 12, biology students are not eligible for this course. Application form is available on CSAS portal and application fees varies according to the subjects upto 2000. The students are provided different slots for the examination so as to avoid rush. The difficulty level of the exam is moderate to hard. It is pure ncert based. 100mcq question needed to be solved in the slot timing of 2 hour. CSAS portal is slow and lags sometimes

Faculty

4.5

Chemistry department's faculty is very nice. The teachers are very knowledgeable. Chemistry department has approx 30 faculty members. There are 30+ students in every year. So the faculty to students ratio is well enough. Every teacher is cooperative and there approach to teaching is that they ask questions in between the lecture so as to check if everyone in understanding or not. Faculty members act as a good mentor also. They provide guidance and career perspectives. They individually deal with every student and try to understand the perspective of the students and accordingly guides them. Department organises educational workshops and seminars for providing proper guidance to everyone. Apart from few senior teachers, most of the teachers are approachable. They reply to the messages and calls effectively and are ready to interact with the students. Some teachers are friendly in nature, some are not. Overall the learning experience is excellent.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Life science includes zoology botany and chemistry considering this combo I think the study material is quite okay in terms of topics chemistry connects school teaching with one step ahead learning . Zoology provides new insights on various topics . Botany covers deeper understanding of syllabus . So overall it's good . Hands on lab work meets the demand of the subject . Also the topics taught match with the type of questions asked in exam. Difficulty level i would say it's moderate for botany and zoology but for chemistry is quite tough. Time management is a much needed skill for examination purpose. For course curriculum i would say more focus on current situation should be laid rather than history .

I think that the course curriculum is good and well managed . The curriculum has all necessary subjects related to our course as well as all other necessary subjects like human values and basic ethics. I find our course curriculum is apt for our course . Thought their is a lag for more practical learning and skills. It will be better if they add more practical learning.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus of Electronics Hons and Electrical Engineering is same but makes it different is how we perceive it. We study the syllabus with theoretical aspects while the engineers with practical aspects. We have a chance to opt for the 4th year, which only comprises of Research. One of the optionals is Generic Elective and if you take GE from same department for all semesters, you will attain a minor degree. The Faculties and whole curriculum is great but the other optionals require improvement. The other optionals only make the Student Life hectic, that stumbles the Student's focus from Course track.
