Course Curriculum Overview

3

The college curriculum is too compact.. like it's good place if you want to just focus on studies and too obedient student..but I think they should allow student to breathe...the curriculum is too tiring. Giving assignments and projects one after another.. they should reduce those and actually do hands on work instead of just forcing to study and marks. They say that they've real world application programs but in reality that's too little..yes there are exposures but first they'll say study hard and complete each and every curriculum assignment and all those then do extra things.. and one after another exam will be there.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

As I heard some companies comes for giving internship but mainly in cse. Most student have to find internship by themselves only. Though they give internship in IEDC lab of iem in some of the startups from that lab.

Placement Experience

4

Mostly from 3rd semester and 4th student become eligible. Many IT companies comes for offering placement, iem have great network among companies. Tcs, Capgemini, PWC, cognizant, Wipro..many more comes but for core fields few are there such as Borosil. The placement package is average for most..but if you work hard you'll get a decent placement. Mostly 80% students gets placement maybe few more. My plans after completing the degree is either building startup or moving abroad for job...if nothing happens then I'll look for job here and then study on robotics.

Fees and Financial Aid

The general fees structure is 7,10,000 overall. 85k per semester. But here's the catch they charge more from some students depending on situation..my own friend paid 2lakh extra. Those who want to study cse only in iem and is fixed and if the seats are already full they'll charge extra money and will admit them in cse(aiml) or cse(csbs)..others and not core cse.. literally looting people like that. And about campus placement..most are in IT no matter your stream.. and internship are given only to cse and sometimes ece, others have to find by themselves.

Campus Life

2.5

The campus is just worst in iem... literally it doesn't have any playground or anything like that..a small basketball court is there in management building that's all and nothing else... sports occurs in iem but for playing each sport in most cases you need to pay for participating..even in cultural fests and other things own college student also need to pay money for participating. Extracurricular activities occur in iem but you need to find it with your own interest and keep working on it..even in academics pressure. They'll not allow you to bunk classes for any other activities even if you're doing great they'll say no it doesn't matter..that side I personally don't like. There are many facilities in cse. There are IEDC lab in godrej genesis building which is of iem there you can do many extra works apart from normal academics. I recently went to Delhi for one of my startup idea as I was a member of IEDC lab. You'll get great opportunity there. Many books are available in library.

Admission

I took admission in IEM, Kolkata saltlake. I took iemjee and also wbjee. I had 200 something rank in iemjee and 26k rank in wbjee. I also took jee mains and advance. After giving iemjee, after few days I went to the admission cell of iem. They asked for my class 10th and 12th boards result, wbjee result. For me they told that atleast 80% was required in boards. So after filling out all the forms they gave me fees structure and everything and after paying the 1lakh 10thousand my admission was complete. But the fault that I think they should look upon is..after iem left makaut and now is under uem.. they're telling everyone that uem is iem Newtown campus and admitting students.. by saying iem and uem are same..but believe me it's not..the placement is not at all good in uem. Well the admission in IEM was not so hard as I went there earlier after giving iemjee as there's was not seat in cse and ece , I took electrical engineering.

Placemeng isnt 100% . If you have the skill you will get placed thats the criteria.many people say you are in IIT your life is sorted .but that aint the reality

The students can apply for internship via Career Development Centre in the beginning of their pre final Year. they can go for off campus intern whenever they want. Most of the goo companies would come and mostly for software finance consulting etc. The placements start in the second last semester as far as i know. The competition for placement is getting really high these days

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

Students generally start getting their pre-placement offers from their 3rd year after completion of their internships other students gets their placement too in their final year. Starting from Apple to Google and Microsoft too hired some of our senior but the number of the students get placed in those tech giant companies is very less but there are mass recruiters too like TCS infosys PW chaitanya education TATA steel BHARAT petroleum and many other companies the offers are made based upon the eligibility of the students and the packages are decided based on the skillset and experience of the students . Highest package was 70 LPA this year and the average packages are also pretty good based upom the companies and their offers it ranges from 15-30 LPA .Almost 80-83% students gets placed but it depends on the branch of the students and their skillsets.I want to sit for GATE exam after completion of my BTech and want to persue MTech

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university is MAKAUT so the curriculum is up to the mark. I liked Programming so I chose B.TECH in CSE. The curriculum is very basic in terms of practical world problem though they are building blocks, but you need to do the extra bit of work to qualify for the real world scenarios. I think more mandatory projects integrated with current set of skills would be a cherry on top. Exams are very frequent like every 3-4 months there is a semester exam and they are moderately difficult.
