What Students Say
Likes
- The regularity and placement cell efforts for the students were amazing and the curriculum and the exposure was also good
- Other things included placement and training opportunities in private as well as public firms which were good
Dislikes
- The immense pressure for attendance (80% compulsory)
- The presence of proper uniform like school students which was actually too much for Undergraduate students and they werent allowed in the campus if they enetered after 9.15am
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum had almost everything that is needed for an undergraduate who is a would be IT professional ranging from system based subjects to software based. The preparation it gave was of immense use too. The course could be a bit domain specific for every stream which had its own specializations ,it could improve the learning capabilities of students even more. There are decent number of exams per semester including some tests .There are 2 mid sem exams and one end sems for every semesters.
Internships Opportunities
The companies mainly came for Systems, SDE and AIML scientist roles and the companies included Oracle, EQ, Juspay, Keysight, PWC, Accenture, Capgemini,TCS, Cognizant ,Deloitte etc. The projects were mainly service based and they offered a pretty good amount for most of the roles.
Placement Experience
The students were eligible for placements from just before the end of the 6th semester (3rd Year).Companies used to come on allocated days and it didnt stress out the students much due to proper schedule. The companies visited were Oracle, Juspay, Keysight Tech, EQ Tech, Cognizant, PWC,Deloitte, Accenture,TCS, Capgemini,ITC, EY GDS and many other startup based companies. Almost 100% students got placed from our batch. I planned to pursue for an M.tech after this.
Fees and Financial Aid
yearly i paid 70k+70k , a total of 140000 for 2 semesters. All charges were included in this .Some of the people also were admitted via management quota which charged around 14 lacs but they got around the same amenities as us. Overall the facilities were good.
Campus Life
There were many fests like SMART Makers festivals,Tech Fest, IEMPACT and other events taking place all over the year including seminars and workshops too. The library facilities were good actually with almost presence of all books which are needed for our course. Our Classrooms were pretty decent but a bit old with old chairs and boards but it was manageable. The sports and other extracurricular activities were also booming all around the campus as per the events.
Admission
I did applied for some other colleges but i didnt get CSE or IT there but their environment for students was also bad (like JU) so i always preferred IEM as i got my preferred stream too there. The admission process is very smooth with one day allocated for verification of identity and other documents like 10th and 12 th marksheet.
Faculty
the faculty to student ratio was around1:60 which was pretty decent considering all aspects and the numerous streams newly launched. The best faculties i had were Susovan sir ,SSG sir ,Kajari maam ,Pulak sir ,Swagatam sir and soumyadip sir because of their interactiveness and immense knowledge in their own domains which is appreciatable. The only reason i didnt liked some of the faculties was that they had a bad attitude which included Sanchita maam. The exams were pretty good and manageable to an extent and mostly 98 percent students cleared most of the subjects.
Night Life
There was a gym but it didnt had much equipments and the library and public area timings were according to the college timings itself from 9 am to 5 pm. The hostel and campus timings were flexible with hostels not allowing girls to move out after 7pm. There were not as such hangout places inside but outside there was a wonderful lake where people usually hang out.
