Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Course I am currently enrolled in is B.TECH. And I think yes! This is the field of my dreams. An Engineer is prepared from all perspective and for all the challenges a person can face in his working life , within these four course years only. An Engineer is fed with the basic knowledge of almost all additional subjects including Mathematics, biology, economics, English Speaking, Cultural events, Various events management, sports etc. One thing I would like to say is, all main subjects I study I feel like they all ultimately point to same destination and are just different shades of the same color : i.e. core branch. I know this is obvious and this should be as well . But I feel like all these things should have some level of difference, not only in concept, but also in applications. May be that is unnecessary but come-on, the more to learn, the better the journey!

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The Essel is The E cell RKMGEC is responsible for medals related to placements and internship opportunities. Many companies like the internshala intern fort TCS Infosys are continuously providing internship opportunities to many students in my college and a lot of students are getting internships as well both paid and unpaid . As far as I remember Microsoft x internfort was a major recruiter for internships

Placement Experience

3

Placement of this college is not one of the best in India but also not the worst. The average package from this college is around 4.5 to 6.5 lakhs per annum which is I think pretty decent for a college that is affordable to almost 90% of the students applying for b.tech courses. Companies like TCS and Infosys are the top companies that come for hiring in my college.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of my college is such that we have to pay a sum of about 6000 every semester(6 months) as the tution fees. Another sum of about 1200 is to be paid at the time of semester examination. These two charges fall under the compulsory charges. There are other miscellaneous charges such as the hostel fees if a student choses to stay at the college hostel then he has to pay a sum of 12000 every semester. Also there are many more charges I collected him by the students only for various events and fests etc. Scholarship available or Swami Vivekananda scholarship , Oasis Scholarship and the many more. SVM is given to almost 90% students which is very good.

Campus Life

4.5

There are lots of events and programs held at the college by the students and the teachers and different clubs. Each year there are Central freshers and department freshers and there are farewells etc .Then we also have the annual fests and tech fests and various club meetings , there are student week programs student awareness programs etc. talking about the facilities and technology provisions within the classroom so we have the various infrastructure for each department unique for their own operations in in my department CSE department too we have computer laboratories and various language laboratories, the projectors in each classroom smart boards etc. the college also have a central library which a keeps almost all the necessary books for engineering. Annual sports day is held for 2 days around the month of March every year. There are close like gdsc, carq etc that are found by the students only.

Hostel Facilities

4

The first and the second year male students do not have on campus hostel facility of the only the third and the fourth year students can stay at the college campus and receive the hostel facilities and the accommodation facilities. the first and the second year students can have hostel accommodations that are external and not directly run by the college but are present near the college only and also they interact with the college .

Admission

Hello , I am Vivek Kumar Dutta and I am an undergraduate student at RKMGEC currently doing B.TECH in CSE. I got admission through WBJEE entrance examination and secured a rank around 5000. Well you know what, the rank is the 70% of the requirements for getting a seat in a good engineering college in West Bengal. The rest 30% is highly dependant upon the counselling process. The entire process went on for about a month and 3 rounds. In the mop-Up or the final round, I was able secure my desired seat. Talking about the exam, the difficulty level is medium. A student preparing consistently for WBJEE has about 95% chance of getting a seat in the government colleges. However, there are limitations to who are eligible for admission: 1) Those who are parmanent residents of Bengal or 2) those whose parents are living in Bengal since atleast past 10 years. JadavPur University allows 5 out of state students. The admission process is not much lengthy, and it's done in a good manner.

Other Applied Colleges

IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITM] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I did not have enough rank in JEE advanced

from 6/7 th semester onwards students become eligible for campus placements. Infosys visited with around 22-23 offers , Cognizant visited with arount 15-16 offers , TCS visited with several offers(not sure how many) , that's it the big names. Apart from these small startups and companies visited too. Highest package offered was 11lpa by TCS , 9.6lpa by infosys, 6.48lpa by Cognizant. Profiles were ASE in TCS , PAT in CTS , SET in Infosys. The percentage of students placed was less arount 30-40% , mostly because the curriculum lacks placement prep. I have joined Cognizant as a Programmer Analyst Trainee after graduating .
