IIM Jammu - College for new opportunities.

I selected the course because of the wide perspective it offers to the students. You get the exposure of all the fields that are relevant in the industry ranging from Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, HR, IT. This gives the students a very wide perspective of the industry. Also, management courses like the one offered in IIM Jammu offers students to improve your communication skills which is a very necessary skill in the industry. MBA refines your personality to a whole new level. There are 6 semsters in total. In each semester Mid term as well as End term exam happen. The difficulty level of these exams is average. In areas of improvement I would say that more practical application of the course is required. For example, subjects like CSR need more application based learning rather than theoritical knowledge. Field visits to villages and how companies implement their CSR policies can be a good example.

College offers wide range of internship opportunities for the students. Various companies like V Guard, Collegedunia, ACH Mgt., L & T, Google came for the SIP process. Average stipend is 55000 for 2 months. I got SIP in collegedunia as a Mgt. Trainee in the Sales Department.

IIM Jammu offers very good placement opportunities for all the students. Currently IIM Jammu has an average package of 1550000 which is very good. Average stipend for SIP is 55000 for 2 months. There are numerous companies which comes to IIM Jammu ranging from ICICI, DE Shaw, ABC group, V Guard, Deloitte, EY etc. The highest package was 6400000 last year which was given by Microsoft. 100% placement is there in IIM Jammu for SIP as well as final placements. My plan is to get a job in finance role even though more marketing roles are offered in IIM Jammu

When I joind IIM Jammu (2023-2025), the course fees was 1725000 for two years. This fees includes all the expenses ranging from Tuition fees, Hostel Fees, Books fees, and other academic/non academic fees. But this fees has been increased and for the 2024-2026 bacth this fees has been raised to 1885000. So the fees has increased by around 9.27%. The increase is big in my opinion. IIM Jammu offers stipend to reseacrh sscholar which is 45000 per month. Additional allowances are also given to research scholars like Contingency allowance (40000 per year), purcahse of laptop (50000 one time allowance), and for attending national and international allowances (upto 200000). IIM Jammu offers campus placements for students. Students also have to do internship after the first year ends which is called the Summer Internship Placements (SIP). Currently I am pursuing SIP in Collegedunia which has offered me Management Trainee role in the Sales Department.

Overall the infrastructure of IIM Jammu is still in development as it is a new campus. In IIM Jammu there is annual fest called the Empyrean whcih is held in March every year. This year the highlight of the fest was Ankit Tiwari. IIM Jammu library offers a wide range of books. Books are issued for 14 days. We can recommend a book to library if it is not availabe in the library. They then arrange for the students. Library is electronically managed which prevents the need for manual issuing. Classrooms are high tech in IIM Jammu. Three projectors as well as one LED screen is provided. There are various clubs and committees in IIM Jammu which are student run which allows for smooth funcationing of the college.

The hostels are very good in the aspect that we are provided with single rooms which gives the student the required privacy. All the rooms have revolving chairs, tables, cupbaords etc. All rooms also have dual inverter AC's which gives provision for both summer and winter season. As the college is still in development there is some teething issues in our hostel premises which will be addressed in the coming months. The meal quality is only average in our mess. Food quality issues are very frequent in the mess.

First of all we had to give the CAT exam in order to get admission in IIM Jammu. Afterwards on the basis of CAT percentile, we got a shortlist as to who is eligible for the CAP interview process. The CAP includes 9 IIMs for selection. The CAP process was online interview. My interview went for around 8-10 mins. The questions in the interview were regarding my educational background, current affairs and one situational based question was asked. After all this process a mail came from IIM Jammu that I have been selected for the IIM Jammu course in which further details were mentioned. In the subsequent mails, we were given the details regarding which forms and documents need to be submitted and the mode. I had availed reservation benefits in the SC category. The minimum cut off was less for SC category. It was 35 percentile for each section. In IIM Jammu there are 6 semesters in total. In each semester there is mid term as well as end term exams.

For getting admission into IIM Jammu, candidate has to go through either the CAP process or the SAP process. After getting shortlisted in the CAP there is a interview in the CAP. The interview for about 8-10 mins. The interview was regarding current affairs, my profile, as well as situation based questions. For preparing for the interview I studied current affairs from newspapers, Also I went extensively through my CV. And I also studied my graduation subjects as question can be expected from there as well/
