Course Curriculum Overview

4

courses are quite relavant and comprehensive and is almost same to that of iit's. i think the course is quite descriptive and prepares us well for real world applications.the areas for improvement in course curriculum and teaching methods could be that courses related to c programming and python programming that are compulsory for all should be more descriptive and taught by teachers properly as what is taught by teachers and what comes varries a lot. in a year there are 4 exams, 2 mid semester's and 2 end semester's . 1 mid semester and 1 end semester in each semester. the level of med semsiter is comparitively easy than end semester. the mid semester and end semester exam of computer related subjects are hard whereas that of management and envirment are on easier side. rest as said by all teachers, get good marks in med sem as end sems you may just pass.

Placement Experience

4

the placement was excellent till 2022 but for 2023 it was good . though average package was about 12 lakhs. as similar to other colleges most cse and ece students got placed with good packages but very few got dream packages(above 30 lacs). most of the students got placed with average packages this year as companies were hiring quite less than previous years

Fees and Financial Aid

as upto my knowledge fees for 1 year b.tech course is 205000 per year. it is on higher side as its a government funded institute. according to the trend the tution fees increases every year . the fees vary quite a lot according to category. various scholarships are provided . 1. based on category--> 100% fee waiver for sc/st/phd students with family income less than 1 lac 65 % fee waiver for sc/st/phd students with family income less than 5 lac. 2.akash sexana memorial scholarship--> for top performer of cse batch of that semester 3.central sector scholarship--> for top performer among sc/st students 4.post metric scholarship--> for sc students 5.ONGC scholarship various other scholarships are also there for students who either belong to economic weaker sections or lower castes or students who are top performers. deatils are mentioned on college website

Campus Life

3

when i just came into college after admission i was quite dissappointed with my college as it was kind of small tho it is 153 acres. but after classes started and interactions with other students in classes and hostel , i kind of wondered at the huge community of students with variety from jammu till tamil nadu . i got a lot of exposure interacting with them and learning from their vast experience. the library is full of books and journals that one can expect. all books are available from all topics in course to wild imagination novels. the annual and tech fest are joke to campus life in this college. out of all events i so far attended i just liked after event dj of utkansh fest. a variety of clubs and student portels are being runned by students . about all clubes there is specific column on nitj website

Hostel Facilities

4.5

hostel is quite good . luckily i got bh1 which is best boys hostel in the college. mess food is very good menu changes after every month . we are provided with a fan, table, chair and a bed for every student. for 1st year each room shared with 4 students . at starting it felt dissappointed of sharing with 3 other persons but after a week it was quite fun. overall hostel is quite good.

Admission

the admission process was hectic. the day of admision there was so much crowd. all the list of documents were provided and easy to find and submit but the time it took was too much.all the sites and places were mentioned properly where we could find about the admission form, application fees and application dates.during the 1st semester exams were there just after 20 days of arrival so it was quite hectic and stressfull but after 1st semester the time period between consecutive exams incresed. according to me like if you have 5 exams total , you will feel 2 easy, 2 hard and 1 moderate with medium preparation .. areas of improvement in admission process could be in management of students during admission process

Other Applied Colleges

Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

i didnt joined vit vellore due to large cultural difference that i felt and due to overcrowding of students

Lovely Professional University - [LPU] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

i didnt joined because i got admission in nit jalandhar which is more recoganised than lpu and which i thought would give more enriching experience

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology - [Thapar University] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)

i didnt opt for thapar because when i looked at the number of students that got admissioned in thapar and too they got same branch despite so much rank differences so i didnt joined

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

The placement of our college is good but its lack to bring big names but overall it's 3 out of 5 as it's basically focus on bringing software companies but our stream is of electronics so we donot have that much knowledge about coding so we lack to get placed this is the only disadvantage of the placement cell here

In 3rd semester a student is eligible for campus placement but it is all upto to students that they have to maintain a good cgpa and skills for interviews. In Chitkara university a good number of companies visited like Microsoft, google and they provide 100+ offerletters. 85-90 % students get placed in Chitkara university. After getting degree I firstly join to the company .

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
