Internships Opportunities

4

Usually when companies come for Job offers they also come with internship offers. So we can apply for internships if we want too.Usually the companies that come offer stipend ranging from 15000-45000 per month so it depends on company and the student howmuch he/she can awail.Companies come with internships which include Practical tasks and projects so it is a good option for students for an early exposure to corporate world.

Placement Experience

4

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.

Fees and Financial Aid

When I enrolled in this university the basic fee for students who opt for core B.Tech CSE was 1 Lakh. But as I opted for a specialization in this field with my specialization or domain as Cloud Computing I had to pay 1.5 Lakh as me fee which was reflected on my fee portal. But as the institution also has an entrance exam which also acts as Scolarship exam I got 20 percent Scolarship and am now paying 1.18 lakh Rupees per semister as my fee.So for a whole year it concludes to be 2.36 Lakh Rupees. But now when i ask m juniors how much they had to pay for their specialization or even a core CSE degree per sem them say that every year it is increased by 20 thousand per semister depending on which year they join.

Campus Life

4

Well I was already a student who was open for new challenges and new aspects of my life so when i came here i never had any problem in getting used to with the place and people. Our university provided a safe environment for students to develop skills other than curricular skills. So we have many Student and departmental clubs and societs in which I participated and am still a part of.The campus life is peaceful with close to none outbursts of any kind.We have everything in close reach of ourselves when it comes to the crucial aspects of life.In short The university life is wonderful with many friends and known people including facultiy members, guards etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels of university are of optimal quality when it comes to room conditions. They are not so fancy but also not to degraded.I live in a single personal room so i dont have to share room with anyone but it is costliear as compare to other rooms.the 4 bed, 3 bed and 2 bed room are 1 lakh, 1.1 lakh , and 1.3 lakh respectively per person but the single bedroom is 1.6 lakh, so it is on the costlier end of graph. All rooms have attached bathroom.Rooms get cleaned every 2 days and we can also get them cleaned every day with just a request and no extra charges.Hostels have both AC and water cooler room. but prices differ. And every year prices go up by 10 k to 20 k per person. We can opt for mess services too in hostel which is somewhat adequate but usually seniors dont prefer it as we have better options inside campus when it comes to food. We can get everything from normal Indian food of all sorts and all states in the food courts and we also have food chains like Dominos,LaPinos and some domestic ones too.

Admission

When i was applying for colleges across India I only considered the fact about their rating amongst the teaching and placement and many colleges were there that sat fit in this field of mine, but most of them were far away in the southern part of India as i am from Jammu my parents wanted me to be close to my residential area so amongst those best colleges was LPU, a well located and well respected institute when it came to the Institutional integrity and being best amongst all other institutes in north india I chose this to be my Alma mater.

Faculty

Our university works different than majority universities but in a good manner. We are given the most relevent cources as compared to the skills that are needed in future. We get up to date material but sometimes thats all we get.The teachers give us PPTs and thats it.They read them in class and go away no doubts someties and even no interactions.Though this is not the case all time Most teachers are good ones and consider students' doubts and questions but those are of the departments of student development or linguistic enhancement. There are very less teachers from core branches that do this. Our uiversity usually have mid sems and end sem exam(or just practicals for practical subjects). And we usually have 3 CAs'(Continous Assessment) tests in between them that are maped in a way to keep a check on our growth.CAs' constitute 25 marks out of 100 that are to be taken in consideration for final assesment of result (if not any special subjects like English/Soft Skills then we have 4 CAs' and 45 marks out of 100) then comes mid terms with weightage of 20 marks and then end sem exams with weightage of 50 (not for specal subjects or practical subjects) then we usually have 5 marks for attendance of normal subjects(but for special subjects we have 15). So the basic devision is CA-25, MidSem-20, EndSem-50, and Attendance-5. Usually the exams have 80 percent questions from the material given with some extra deep learning to be done for each topic and 20-25 percent is what we call out of syllabus as those topics are not usually taught in class but are needed for the present scenarios of IT industry. Midterms are usually MCQs based 30 marks and endterms are combined with 30MCQs and 5 Questions of 10 marks each(only 4 to be done).

Night Life

4

Well for most of the early parts of night until 11 all the shops and cafeterias are open for us to go to then after that most of them get closed. For girls it is allowed to be outside the hostel but inside the campus untio 10:30 after that they are sent in.Guys dont have much restrictions if they are near the hostel area we can rome around for whole night with some cafetrtias open till morning. Library is open till 2 in the night so girls and boys can be there until then. And if a person wants to go outside the Pg area near campus is hustling and bustling all night long with all students active whole night and all shops open all along.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
