Course Curriculum Overview

Nit Jalandhar ECE provides a great coding culture as well as core culture. Whether you are interested in coding or in core, ece gives opportunities in both the fields. From Google, Microsoft to Nvidea , every company visits our campus and picks ece students in larger numbers. Cource Currilum is top notch and in a semester exams are taken twice , i.e mid sem and end sem . The difficulty of the paper is hard.

Placement Experience

Campus placement is good in my college . The Campus placement drive starts in the final year and it continues till the completion of final year. Major tech giants visit our college including google, microsoft, amazon, rapidfort, oracle, Nvidea,etc. Highest package was offered by Microsoft this year @55lpa. My branch placement is 82% . My plan is to join a faang company as software developer after getting my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fee includes Rs 17500 as fixed charges , Rs 7500 as Hostel Fees and Rs 62500 as tuition fee that sums it approximately as Rs 88000 per semester excluding the mess charges of Rs 25000 per semester.

Campus Life

The campus life is okayish. The annual cultural fest is UTKANSH which is a blend of various culture and annual technical fest TECHNITI. The cultural as well as technical fests are very good. There is an old library as well as a new extension of the old library. The new library is top notch. It has reading rooms with ACs fitted all around. The Lecture theatre is the best amongst all NITs. The sports culture in the college is also very good. There are various clubs , each clubs organise various events throughout the year .

Hostel Facilities

For first year students , its a triple share accomodation and from second year to third year its a double sharing accomodation and again in the final year its a single share . Washing machine is fitted in every floor and cleanliness is maintained throughout. Hostels are affordable and the charges are Rs 8500 per semester.

Hostel Fee: INR 17000 per year

Admission

To get admission into NIT Jalandhar, one has to give JEE Main organised by National Testing Agency. The application form comes in mid september to october on NTA's office website and application fee is 1000rs per attempt. JEE Main takes place twice an year in January and April and difficulty level varies from shift to shift. Difficulty level is easy to medium.

Solid Campus, Supportive Faculty and Predictable Academics

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Life at CGC Landran

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak.That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.

Life at NIT Jalandhar : A comprehensive student perspective

I applied to several institutions including NIT Jalandhar, NIT Srinagar and UIET Hoshiarpur And Pec Chandigarh But choose NIT Jalandhar due to its robust placement record well recognised NIT brand and strong industry connections. NIT Jalandhar offers better infrastructure, facility expertise and peer environment compared to other options I had while I got confirmed admissions from uiet Hoshiarpur and nit Jalandhar my preference for a national level campus experience and comprehensive curriculum lead me here. My JEE main rank mit nit Jalandhar's cutoff whereas I couldn't qualify for top iits due to higher cut off the admission process is straightforward students must clear JEE main participate in Jossa counselling and meet annual cut offs .The eligibility is 75% in class 12th And a valid JEE main score. I got 28102 rank in jee mains and 24576 rank in jee advanced My primary goal was to get into any iit but I can't get due to my rank if I would have got any iit o would have chosen it over In josaa counselling I got iiit bhopal cse which was quite a good option because bhopal is not so distant from home and also has good placement but it has many problems like no permanent campus and hostels etc and very high fees which I can't afford So in next round I got nit jalandhar ice over it because it is a cirtcutal branch enough options in tech and core both morover it comes with a nit tag and less fees and I want clg in north...Read More
