Course Curriculum Overview
As of now we have various other subjects that cover real life application process and a workshop with various machines The workshop prepares you well for all purposes The teaching methods are good. There is a main external exam at the end of every semester as well as two internal test.
Internships Opportunities
Various companies offer intership but usually we have a cadetship system. You work as a cadet in a company to gain experience and then get promoted to a higher rank and continue to work for them. Companies visiting are NYK, Chevron, Mitsui, Synergy, etc
Placement Experience
Normally students are eligible for campus placement from 5th semester but some cases get to sit in interview from the 2nd semester Companies that visit the campus are Mitsui, NYK , Chevron, Synergy, etc Packages range from 10lacs to 12lacs Almost everyone here gets placed My plans after getting the degree is to sail as an engineering cadet initially
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee was 10 lacs for four years until last year and is 11 lacs for four years now and is unlikely to increase this year again 275,000 is the tuition fee for two semester or per annum including 82,000 of hostel and mess facilities and uniforms provided Some scholarships are provided to people with EWS category especially and females get about 50% subsidy from government. Apart from these there are options of loans as well. There are plenty of competition around the year in which you can earn prize money
Campus Life
Indian Maritime University is a paramilitary college, You have to get up for PT every morning before classes and have sports in the evening after classes as well as regular head counts. There are various competitions and functions taking place around the year like lithosphere, tempest... Which is Asias greatest marine fest At the time of Passing out parade there are March past practices as well. There are various festivals also celebrated. Books are provided by the library to everyone and have to be returned at the end of the semester. Every class has projector facilities.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are decent and compulsory for all, even locals In first year there are 6 guys in one room but the rooms are pretty spacious Almirah and tables are provided to everyone The food is okay, a bit plain and you can get bored of it but it's still manageable Registration of hostel is included during the time of admission
Admission
There is an all India exam called IMUCET or Indian Maritime University common entrance test that is compulsory to take admission Without any reservation a AIR 1500 should be fine Eligibility to give the test is that you need to have Maths in 12th and a PCM percentage of 60+ and 10th and 12th English 50+ The application form, fees and dates can be found online or on IMU website For Btech the exam is conducted once an year around June and for bsc and dns it takes place twice ...June as well as December Physics Chemistry Maths English and General knowledge are the important subjects to cover
