What Students Say
Likes
- Campus culture is quite fun, people are very cooperative
- Professors are very helpful and intellectual
- We get a lot of freedom and there is no attendance policy.
Dislikes
- Less placements are a major concern among btech student.
- Lack of scholorships like mcm is something i dislike
- Mess food is very bad in Boys hostel, coed hostel food is fine
Course Curriculum Overview
Course is very relevant and up to date, not as up to date as IIITs though. It is better than NITs as there are only two branches CSE and ECE, so we do not have courses related to civil and mchanical as in other NITs in first year. Courses follow mostly IIT Delhi syllabus which is a neighbour of our university. Curriculum isnt as good as foreign university but it is better than most of the indian universities and prepares us well for further academic pursuits and job purposes. There are two exams per semester - Midsem and endsem.
Placement Experience
Placemts are fine as the course just started here. It is getting better. Average package is 11LPA. due to lack of alumnis off campus placement is hard. Byjus, Accenture etc. visited. Highest on campus placement is 18LPA and offcampus 36LPA for btech batch. 70% CSe students were placed and rest opted for higher studies. My plans is to get placed after college.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no tuition fees increase policy as for now. Complete btech degree costs around 6 Lakh(67000 incl. registration fees) . If your parents' yearly income is less than 1 lakh then you have to submit income certificate each semester to avail 100% scholorship and you have to pay only registration fees i.e. 5600rs. And for income between 1 to 5 Lakh per annum the fees per sem is 27000 including registration fees. Hostel is free of cost and mess bill lies between 2500-3500 per month. I havent taken any employment.
Campus Life
JNU campus is considered safest place in delhi. Night life is awesome and you have 100% freedom. Our library is of 8 floors and you can find almost ay book there. Many magzines are available from around the world. All classrooms are good and airy with AC and projectors. Clubs are not that popular but students make small unofficial groups for cultural activities.
Admission
Admission process is quite simple, just give JEE mains and apply through JoSAA or CSAB counselling. Cutoff usually lies around 95-98percentile for CSE. There is no female reservation. Category reservation is available as per Josaa guidelines.
