My KGEC Journey

Kalyani government engineering College is a well known government engineering College in West Bengal and the core streams in this college is also great. Faculty members in the department of electrical engineering is very knowledgeable and most of the professor have done their phds and they have a very good practical knowledge also. Maximum faculties have done their PhD s. The HOD of electrical engineering department is also under world's top 2% scientists. We really have knowledge mine in our department. They are very helpful and they also teach us by their practical knowledge this helps us a lot. Their are 2 semester exam in one academic year conducted by MAKAUT . The question are moderate to above average level. If any students know the basics of his course he can easily got an good score.

The companies visited at the time of 4th year many of them offers internship opportunities to the students. Companies like TDK , MN dastur etc offers students internship opportunities with avg stipend. They are several projects already in working condition like modern inverter, HVDC technology, solar technology, etc

From the starting of 4th year students are eligible for placements. They are already 8 companies visited in our college and more than 80 students are already placed. And 35 students till placed in core sector the highest package of 8Lpa at HPL. Till the placement hasn't completed yet but 9 LPA is the highest with 3.5 LPAavg package. Approx 30 % students in each department is already placed till now. I will go for the campus placement but my goal is to crack group a services

The tuition fees are varies course to course for the electrical engineering the tuition fees are 3000/- and other fees like electricity, seat bookings etc is 1000-1500/- . Their are 1200/- form fill up charges for each semester. In total if we calculate every year 10k is academic fees for electrical engineering in KGEC. We got the svmcm scholarship which is 60k per year. But you have to score more than 60% to avail this scholarship and also no backlog is allowed. Also there are full free ship and half ship is available. The student who are came economically backward classes government provides full free ship and half free ship in their tuition fees.

In KGEC the annual fest is ESPEKTRO. The cultural fest is called as Exotica and Techtix. The tech fest is very popular here and the madness of kalyani is Espektro. The Library is well equipped with modern tech. Also book return kiosk is available here. The class rooms are also good. Every class have projector but the labs needs to be improved. Every year annual sports day is organised by our sports club sportix. Sports like cricket, football, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, is played between the department and between students and teachers. KGEC have 13 main club to run. These clubs have done a great work in annual fest and annual sports day also .

We are stay in RBC hostel, a three storey building with 30 rooms . In every room 4 students are accomodate. The rooms are plenty of size and well furnished. 12000/- rupees is taken for the meal purpose in hostel in each semester. The food quality is good and the menu is also set by us . In every week we have 2 chicken, 2 fish , 4 egg and 1 fried rice meal also they are hostel biriyani party happens in every month. The registration process is done at the time of addmission. Anyone can afford the hostel because it is very cheap and affordable and value for money. No I am not rented a room because room prices are much higher, hostel is the perfect choice for me.

We have applied for the b. Tech lateral entry in the electrical engineering stream. For the lateral entry we have to secure a good rank in JELET. For the UR candidates the cutoff is under 100 for core streams. In the month of Dec-Jan JELET application form is out at wbjeeb website and the month of May (for our time ) the examination is conducted by the wbjeeb. In 40-50 days the results are out. Yes there are reservation benefits for the SC/ST candidates. They got very chance to grab a seat if they rank under 500. The admission process in the college after the counseling needs to be upgraded. The communication gap between table to table is very high and I think these all processes should have done in online mode
