Remarks
The college management is slower in work but other things are helpful for the students. The college is good for an avg student.
Entrance Preview
I had 92.5% in top four subjects and the second cutoff was 92%. I chose this college because someone told me about this that it's an average college in South campus, but it is good for Computer science.. (north campus have only one(co-ed)college) and in south campus it is good as compared to others.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure we are following is CBSCS(Choice Based Credit System) which is now followed in all the colleges. In this, there are core subjects and General Elective subject in 2 years. In this student have the option to choose from a variety of subjects. The course is somewhat general rather than specifically different for every course(apart from core courses). Subjects like EVS and English is mandatory for first year. The course is now simple and just general things(introduction part) is taught. Students who wish to do better is always helped by the faculty.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, the college organise the internship fair, in which there are many start-up and companies come for the hiring students. Generally as other internships there are rare cases that you get a good stipend for your internship. Maximum of them are looking for freelancers and just provide LOC, certificate and some goodies of their own companies.
Placement Experience
The placement is currently handled by the central placement cell so the job opportunity is depends on what companies CPC provide the college. The salary and packages depending on the student and selected according to their interview. Some students are selected for HR department while many are selected in other different departments like Desktop support, management, etc. The minimum salary is somewhat 15K and maximum is in the company, if they select some student for the top posts available or not.
College Events
The events in our college takes place too frequently. Their are different society like for singing/dancing/drama/quiz/art and a lot more... In every 10-15 days there is some event organised by some society. The participation in them is also quite good. The cultural fest held in the month of February and the participation is also good. The crowd in the events are in rich amount. Department's fest also takes place in the month of February-march and the participation is in a good number.. several prices are given to the winners in different events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees for the Bsc(hons) Computer Sc is the highest in all over the Delhi University (in all the courses). The fees is around 48000 for one year that's quite expensive as it is a government college. Students who can't afford this have other colleges which provides good education in low fees as well..
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship facility is available for students coming from backward castes like SC/ST and obc. Students whose family income is lower than 1 lakh per annum is also given scholarship. The amount given is around 10,000 per student and the process mainly takes two to three months. The loan facility is currently not offered by the college.
Campus Life
The college is an average college in the south campus and the crowd is from middle class mainly. The ambience in the college is quite good and cheerful. Different activities and societies preparing something can be seen on a regular basis. The gender ratio of the student is good but not in technical courses like BSc Computer science and in other courses like BCom the gender ratio is equally distributed. The economic status of our college is healthy and the buildings and furnitures are replaced time to time. Projectors and other facilities are also available for students to study in an interactive manner. Politically the college is not so active. In everything else like ethnicity, race, religion we can see the diversity in our college.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is not available for students so the students have to take PG in Satya Niketan. The price for a single student is around 4000 to 5000 for non AC and 5000 to 8000 for AC PG. The area is quite expensive and the total cost for a single month goes up to 10000-15000 per student. Students of other college in South Campus also lives there so mess and other restaurants for food is available easily the market is open 24*7.The canteen is good as compared to other colleges in the neighbour but the food is quite expensive (as they get subsidy for it as well from the government). One thali cost upto 60-70 Rs. . Hygiene is maintained there and the food is fresh. Sitting arrangement is available in a good number.
Alumni/Alumna
This Indian students is the best thing in this college, they tried to help you in every possible way they can. You can ask them for books notes or any other query related to college or any other procedure. The alumni network is not so strong as compared to other colleges and no alumni meet is organised in our college. One can surely make contact with the alumni if they wish to.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is the standard exam procedure followed by all the colleges in Delhi University. Exams are semester wise and mainly occurs in December and may-june of the year. Practical exams are followed by theory exams. For exams which have practical consists of 150 marks(75 theory+ 25 internal+ 50 practical). And the normal exams are of 100 marks(75 theory+ 25 internal). After that the result is combined as the SGPA and you will get the results ranging from 0-10(gpa). Internal exams and assignments are taken time to time by the professor. Submission of assignments and 75% is Mandatory now.
Admission
The admission process is now simple as compared to previous years. At the mid of May, Delhi University starts their admission registration. Students have to upload the digital documents of their transfer certificate, migration certificate, 12 marksheet, 10th marksheet, and one or two documents as well. After the 12th results they start to release the cutoff one by one..(starts with 98-99% for demanding courses). You have to go to the Delhi University website, download the cutoff list, check if you have crossed the cutoff eligibility and the college you wish to take admission. Then take a print out for that college admission and visit that college, their they will check (3-4 times) if you have met all the eligibility criteria, and don't forget to bring your all documents with you like transfer certificate, migration certificate, marksheet (10,12 both). After that you will have to again login in the Delhi University website and pay the fees for your corresponding course. Take the print out of the fees slip and also make sure to make 4-5 copies of that as they will be the only proof that you have taken the admission in the college. You will have to submit that in the accountant and finalize your admission. The copy of fees slip will be used in things like ID card, bus pass, etc. Maximum things are now online so you just have to make sure that you check the website regularly.
Faculty
The college faculty is good and educated and helpful. If you need any help related to your course or anything else related to your project etc they will surely help you. The official management is somewhat slower and ignorant (like all the government offices). Mistakes like admit card missing, mistyping is common now. The sad part is no one will help you in this and you have to handle it on your own. Apart from this for educational purposes the faculty is good one can have.
