Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose this course considering my interest in East Asian culture and Languages. The Faculty: Student ratio is 1:40 and most of the professors are Ph.D scholars. The teaching method comprises reading books and learning after it which stipulates the form of an ancient education system like any other mediocre Indian University. "An important factor to consider is that faculty sometimes fell short due to a shortage of subject masters(or should I say language) For example, Chinese faculty is much in number and experience than Korean and Japanese while the latter suffer the incompetency of the number of faculty. Term exams happened to be very fast but it was due to the internal issues that remain consistent in DU and except that there would be tons of Internal Assessments that play a major role in one's SGPA. Exam level - Hard!

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is very nominal and applies to the majority of the section and only EWS Candidates get to have benefits of Fee reduction, but it all varies according to Delhi University's guidelines. No scholarship or Financial assistance has been provided by the department and neither has the job opportunities which one can question before enrolling in the department.

Campus Life

1

The department is quite depressing and needs major infrastructure advancement. There is a huge shortage of classrooms and doesn't align with the accommodation to satisfy the ratio of students enrolled in the department. Sometimes, professors have to take classes in African departments or get to struggle with the availability of seats. There are no social groups, clubs, or websites to again accommodate the interests of students, let alone to mention there's no department's specific website available in the first place. No Sports and extracurricular activities take place on the campus. The Library is updated concerning course structure and the books recommended by faculty.

Admission

The eligibility of the course is very simple and that is - Undergraduate from any university recognized by the Government of India. - There's no such application form for such a course, all you have to do is to take the CUET Entrance exam and get shortlisted for the following program. Selection varies on the score of the entrance exam and differs according to yearly cut-offs. - All the reservation benefits too vary according to the University's guidelines. - Admission process is smooth as one need to register themselves on DU's portal and whole process is integrated on website that one can look after!

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was interested in knowing more about the politics of the country, additionally, it was going to help me out with my UPSC optional. Though the faculty-student ratio has increased now, still professors are easily accessible to discuss. One can approach their chambers, also each student gets an academic advisor allotted. The faculty here is one of the best in the country, even overseas. That is the foremost reason why students want to be here. The teaching method is very impersonal, where Faculty itself has the power to design the syllabus and assess them as they want. The course is not easy, and rigorous and one should engage properly in the readings to write good answers and develop a deep understanding. Centre for political studies (CPS) takes two mid-semester exams and one end-semester exam in a semester.

Overall a good organisation to learn as its 1pp years old University, among cheapest in fees wise. Cost benefits ratio is excellent but need to work more on Individual development and placements which I think is co related apart from that one can learn culture and science under same shelter very efficiently.
