Dislikes

Infrastructure is poor. Because it is so old college because it is established in 1961
No boundaries in college campus . Private car also passes.
Library problem - there is no enough space to group study.

Course Curriculum Overview

Faculty members are good. Most of the faculty member belongs to IITs and NITs.They are very helpful. Course duration is 4 years. There are 2 semester in a year. Teachers are very helpful so there is no difficulty to understand tough topics and gain knowledge. There is no difficulty to pass semester if you love to study.

Class Size: 80Course Fees: INR 69000 per year

Placement Experience

College placement is very good. 100% placement last year. Non core and core all department are good for placement. Good College for engineering students.Awesome faculty members of every department of engineering and all professor has renownable degree form top universities. Placements are also too good for both core and non core branches. Highest package is nearly 65 lpa

Fees and Financial Aid

Half fees waiver and Full fees waiver are available by college faculty.Student credit card stream is available in college. College arrange few seminar about this topic. You will get benefit of this scheme. Swami vivekananda scholarship is available. And few more scholarship related engineering is also available.

Campus Life

Annual fest is JECLAT which happens in March-may . Tech fest is SRISTI. All important books are available in college library. There are Sports club, music club, dance club ,drawing club etc. Technical club is also available cyber security, CFI, IEEE, SAACC etc.

Admission

To take admission students have to clear WBJEE exam with good ranks. There are 3 round in WBJEE counselling. Process is below - Choice filling, first round, second round and then mop up round. You can know details in Webjee website.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

Placement Experience:

At JGEC,campus placements begin mostly from the 6th/final year semester,when students become eligible .I recent years many well-known companies have visited such as Pinnacle Infotech,Synnova Gears & Transmissions Pvt.Ltd,,TCS,Jyesta corporate Entity and many more.The highest package was around 54 LPA form Google ,While the overall average is 10.2LPA.Many students also take internships, industrial training or prepare for higher studies(GATE) rather than accepting direct placement immediately.The exact percentage of student getting palcement is no where.But last year the percentage placed is 70%.

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities are overall good, students can apply for the placement form 5th and 6th semester and can get PPOs's companies like Microsoft, google, amazon comes during the placement season and every year, so many students get placed even with a package greater than 2cr INR. Placement Experience:

Overall the placement percentage of the college is good for both the core and non-core courses almost near 90%. All the students in there 3rd year i.e. in their 5th or 6th semester are elegible for campus placements. A few companies which visit the college are TCS, WIPRO, TECH MAHINDRA, INFOSYS, IBM, COGNIZANT, HUL, HCL, INDIAN OIL, MITSUBSHI, NJ INDIA, D-POWER,ETC. all the companies offer placement. highest on-campus package = inr 33 lakh where as the average is around 6lpa. After the degree, I plan to get a good placement in a core company and opt for GATE.

Placement Experience:

From 8th semester the students get eligible for campus placements . Some good companies like TCS Capgemini Infosys visited campus . Amazon also visited our campus the highest package is about 22 lakhs and average packages 5.5 lakh . about 80% student of CSE , IT and ECE branches get placed.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . But it was my and my father's wish that I study near my home and as JGEC is not so far from my home I confirmed the seat here. Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
