Coding culture of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College
Faculty members. Some members are really very good
Environment of this place where this college is situated

Dislikes

Infrastructure is poor. Because it is so old college because it is established in 1961
No boundaries in college campus . Private car also passes.
Library problem - there is no enough space to group study.

Course Curriculum Overview

Faculty members are good. Most of the faculty member belongs to IITs and NITs.They are very helpful. Course duration is 4 years. There are 2 semester in a year. Teachers are very helpful so there is no difficulty to understand tough topics and gain knowledge. There is no difficulty to pass semester if you love to study.

Class Size: 80Course Fees: INR 69000 per year

Placement Experience

College placement is very good. 100% placement last year. Non core and core all department are good for placement. Good College for engineering students.Awesome faculty members of every department of engineering and all professor has renownable degree form top universities. Placements are also too good for both core and non core branches. Highest package is nearly 65 lpa

Fees and Financial Aid

Half fees waiver and Full fees waiver are available by college faculty.Student credit card stream is available in college. College arrange few seminar about this topic. You will get benefit of this scheme. Swami vivekananda scholarship is available. And few more scholarship related engineering is also available.

Campus Life

Annual fest is JECLAT which happens in March-may . Tech fest is SRISTI. All important books are available in college library. There are Sports club, music club, dance club ,drawing club etc. Technical club is also available cyber security, CFI, IEEE, SAACC etc.

Admission

To take admission students have to clear WBJEE exam with good ranks. There are 3 round in WBJEE counselling. Process is below - Choice filling, first round, second round and then mop up round. You can know details in Webjee website.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

Placement Experience:

From 6th semester students are eligible for campus placement. There are a lot of companies that visit. A few of them are Google, Amazon, etc. The highest package this year for on campus was 54 lakh and the average package is 7 lakh. Percentage of students getting placement is aroung 70%. After getting the degree I will be pursuing M.Tech.

My experience in the first IIT

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester for the 4 year program. 100+ companies visit and make 1600+ offers. Visiting companies include FAANG , hft/firms and core engineering companies like Texas instruments/Nvidia. Highest package was of 1.68cr and avg package ranged from 15-20 lakh 80%+ were placed in UG program I haven't decided particularly if I should do masters or prepare for job or go for other venture as the college provides good enough safety net for each thing

In 2024, 27 LPA was the highest package in our college. Profile are offered like full stack web developer, junior software engineer and others. Cse course I have taken it because I have an interest in this subject and in the upcoming time very a demand for a job line. and in our college teacher are well qualified our classroom-student ratio is a maximum of 65 around and it's not too difficult to pass teachers guiding will.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . The admission process was held by W Bengal joint examination board Everyone from science background and scored well in his board can apply for the exam It is a joint examination in West Bengal for engineering. If anyone scored rank below 10,000 means you can got government colleges and there are many private colleges also there are major four garment institutions that are aimed for the exam ranked as jadavpur University calcutta University kalani government Engineering College and jalapaiguri Govt Engineering College.
