Pleasant experience

My four years in college is one of the most memorable four years of my life till now. The friends I made there, the fun and thrill I had participating in different events, the adventure we had while going to college every day in the van rides, all will be deeply etched in my memories forever.

I wrote the WBJEE exam where I secured 3853 rank. After three rounds of counselling, I decided to go with Heritage Institute of Technology after hearing good words about it from my seniors. I even went to the campus and was spellbound by the top-notch infrastructure and facilities. The administration staff was very helpful and guided us with the onboarding process. I decided to pursue ECE in B.Tech. due to the relevance of the stream in the market, in this era.

Electronics and Communication stream is in much demand in this market due to the revolution of electronics in the market. Our college with expert faculties and top-notch infrastructure really made me imbibe an interest in the subject. In our first year, we were introduced to the basic subjects of engineering which were common to all the streams. Afterwards, we were introduced to basics of electronics engineering and later we delved deep into Digital and Analog electronics along with Control Systems, Microprocessors and options such as Antenna Theory, Data Structure, OOP, etc.

In between our 7th and 8th semester we were facilitated by our college for our internship. We were given a wide range of choices in computer programming, microprocessors and core electronics field. I took up an internship in Simoco where we developed a Biometric Attendance Database System.

The placement scenario in my year of 2016 was great. TCS was invited to the zero slot and recruited 510 students from our college, the highest they did in eastern India in spite of the global downturn in IT hiring. Our total batch strength was 1000 throughout the department. ECE and CSE are the best performing departments with the highest placement percentage of 90%. I, myself am writing this review while working in TCS.

Our cultural fest, Eclecia is one of the most famous among the WBUT colleges. Famous artists such as Anupam Roy, Farhan Akhtar and Papon had graced their presence in our college.

For first semester, it was around 72,200 including one time admission fee and refundable caution money deposit. Henceforth it was Rs.44,000 for 2nd semester. 3rd and 4th: Rs. 45,100 5th and 6h: Rs. 46,200 7th and 8th: Rs. 47,300

Faculty is a mix of young and experienced professionals. Mostly, recruited from M.Tech and Ph.D qualifications of Jadavpur University and IIT.
