Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

• Why B.Com (Hons.) B.Com (Hons.) provides scopes for a lot of career opportunities and does not pull you towards a specific field like courses that provide Economics as a compulsion. One can choose from Finance, Marketing, Advertising and Economics easily whenever they want to, thanks to the availability of several General Elective subjects offered in the college! • There's a healthy ratio among students if talked about gender. • The professors placed in CVS, DU are one of the best since some of them are book authors and editors for the books that are read throughout the university! Teaching methods are still outdated due to lack of proper infrastructure in the college but changes are in progress every year - gradual but slow. • Term exams were at par if compared with SRCC and the university. There's no mode of cheating allowed which provides fair competition and they are done on a timely basis. Monthly test and internal exams are fairly easy.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

• Lenskart: My first internship was with John Jacobs, Lenskart which offered a very great Work in Office, stipend based, internship. The interview rounds were smooth with tests of credibility and skills. Overall a great opportunity.

Placement Experience

3.5

• Placements: 5th semester students are allowed to sit for placements although it might change after NEP-2020 implementation • Almost all students get placed because of competition and college society experience that provide a valid experience for the students about different fields including HR and Marketing.

Fees and Financial Aid

• There has been no hike in the fees and the cost of study has been the way a government college should have. • Scholarship options exist but mostly for reserved students. • There are options to opt for VC internship but they're based in North Campus of the University.

Campus Life

3.5

• TATVA: the annual fest that is organised (if the purchasing committee allows and authorities do not mess up) in the month of February and is quite vibrant and amazing. • Library: The library offers a solitude space to sit in the ocean of literature, economics, finance and every course available in the college. Additionally, novels are also available. • Socieities: If Delhi University College Societies were organisations, CVS, DU is the hub! With mostly a society for almost everything, we have very active socieities that provide a lot of experience and exposure to the candidates that apply and become a part. One of the most prominent ones are the cultual wing Reverie, the cultural socieities for photography, music, dance, drama, fashion; and ComSoc - The Commerce Socieity of CVS.

Admission

The admission was smooth. The process was done seamlessly online on the admission portal. One does not even need their parents while taking an admission making it a very first step towards adulthood! • Eligibility for B.Com (Hons.): A decent score (above 710/800) in CUET can land you in a south campus college like CVS easily, if you target B.Com (Hons.) • Reservation: There are a lot of reserved seats for candidates including cultural quotas that one can claim. • Improvement needed: The college never notified about physical verification and ended up doing it while submission for admit cards for semester I exams!

Other Applied Colleges

Banaras Hindu University - [BHU] | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com] {Hons.}

Very far from home, very less internship and growth opportunities. Full of competitive exam aspirants making it less of a college experience than a school

Course Curriculum Overview:

I will rate the daulat ram course 8/10. One of the main reasons i chose this course was that the syllabus felt balanced between theory and practical understanding..but the only drawback is that sometimes it felt a bit more theory based rather than practical exposure , the exam pattern is consistent mid-sem internals and end-sem finals twice a year. Internals are usually manageable, but end-semester exams depend a lot on the teacher marking style.

The campus placement is quite good, from 2nd or 3rd year students are eligible. Deloitte visited recently. I'm not aware about this, placements cells are made in college who take care of all this. A good amount of students get place, approx 20 students were placed this tym in Deloitte. I will be continuing with ACCA only.

Course curriculum is as per Delhi University's official curriculum, so it's pretty good. But its very theoretical as well so if I would suggest an improvement it would be this to make the curriculum more real and practical life based rather than rote learning.

Students of 3rd year are eligible for the same. Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, Blackrock, Meesho etc being the most prestigious recruiters. Highest package varies, but it went around 36 L last year. Avg being around 8 L. I would say most students who apply for placements get placed, however only a few get placed in the top companies. I personally wish to pursue an MBA.
