Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I want to work in the management field in the future. Also as compared to BBA, BMS is a much more practical subject and caters to industry demand. The faculty was good in the 1st year. But during 2nd year, the teachers got promoted to other colleges. So there was no BMS faculty present in the college. It was a hustle to study and perform in the exams. A few subjects did have guest teachers but they were not good enough. Also one of the core subjects did not have any teacher. We had to get help from other subject teachers ( who were quite unwilling) and YouTube. It was also tough to find appropriate books for elective subjects in the library or even online. The exams were conducted according to the academic calendar and went quite smoothly though. The exams generally had a moderate level of difficulty.
Internships Opportunities
600+ internship offers have been received from 380+ companies. The highest stipend is 50,000 per month. The college placement cell is really helpful in this case. They provide accurate statistics, resume templates, and internship opportunities.
Placement Experience
The placements start from the 6th semester. About 400 companies like Accenture, KPMG, Deloitte, EY, DE Shaw and Co., Oppo, TCS, EXL, Airtel, Aakash, Tech Mahindra, IIFL and more have visited the campus. The average package lies between 4-4.5 LPA. The highest package is 21.5 LPA. I plan for MBA from prestigious institutes like IIMs, FMS, MDI etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are not high. For the general category, it was about 12,000 per annum. Exam fees varied from 1000-1500 per semester depending on the type of subjects opted. Outstation students can get PGs or Flats quite easily at even walking distances. However, the PGs anf flats are a bit pricey and do not usually include meals.
Campus Life
The annual fest is Tatva, conducted in February. The annual fest has not been conducted since the Covid pandemic. Society events are frequent though. Classes provide black and white boards but no projectors. Some classes in the Old Building are too small with no lighting or ventilation. Some of them have fans that do not work. The New Building classrooms are much more spacious and ventilated. The college provides a huge playground with a basketball court, a volleyball court and some sports equipment like chess, volleyball, football, basketball etc. The college also has a cultural building for the cultural societies of the college. The library is well equipped with air conditioning, an e-source room etc., and has sufficient books. There are numerous societies, clubs and cells working in the college. For example, book clubs, NSS, Rotaract, women's development cell, e-cell, marketing society, enactus, tech society, singing, dance and photography, economics, entrepreneurship, debating societies and so on.
Admission
The admission process was a lengthy one and required much patience. Admission happens through the CUET entrance exam. NTA releases notifications regarding the exam form filling, admit card and exam dates. Exam fees vary with categories. CUET includes subjects studied in class 12, Language tests and General tests (GK, LRDI, Quantitative aptitude). Do check the eligibility criteria. For BMS, it is Language+ Math+ GT. Once the exam is done, you have to fill in your details and college preference list on the assigned portal (I think it was CSAS). DU has 9 colleges that offer BMS. According to your normalised score, you are alloted to a college/university and a course. You can either lock it or try for an upgrade in upcoming rounds. Spot round is available. You can also check the seat matrix available on the University's website. Once you freeze/lock your seat, you can pay the fee.
