Course Curriculum Overview

2

I've Statistics as my major subject in graduation and it is the toughest course in the whole college. Its curriculum is very tough and long. The faculty is fair enough. But if you're a non-Bengali student then at points in time you've to suffer a lot. I mean times there'll be linguistic issues in the classroom. But mostly the profs are qualified. Exams happen semester-wise, ie, every 6 months. The exam pattern is very tough as the course.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Companies like DE Shaw, Zomato, Itisaras, and start-ups come for internships. Intern roles such as Business development, sales, Analyst, Marketing, Filmmaking, etc are being offered. Also, many companies come with PPO and stipends ranging from unpaid to 50k per month too.

Placement Experience

3.5

From semester 5, placements generally take place. Companies such as Deloitte, EY, PwC, Wtw, Itc, and many more come for on-campus placement. I've noticed that the highest package was 18 lpa for a business analyst role for commerce students.

Fees and Financial Aid

SXC keeps a hike of 5% in its fees every year. Also, the cost of my course is a little high compared to other colleges. Till now I've not got any financial grant or jobs on campus. But I've heard of some scholarships which are offered to many bright students.

Campus Life

2

There's only a single fest that happens in my college and it is Xavotsav. It generally takes place in the month of February. Our central library has a lot of books but the library is not big enough to handle the extra crowd. All the classrooms are equipped with AC and projectors. There are a lot of societies in the college but all the society follows politics and getting into them is not difficult until or unless you're very much extroverted.

Admission

SXC doesn't take any admission exams. I got into it through merit. At my time the eligible percentage was 95% and above in 12th in the best four including mathematics. The application form and everything related to admission is found on the college's website.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

The Physical Chemistry faculties are the best I got, that influenced me to carry forward my research carrier in Physical Chemistry. The curriculum for the Physical and Inorganic chemistry are upto the mark and I felt improvement in teaching style and curriculum is required for Organic Chemistry part. The difficulty of Internal examination can be improved a bit.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
