Metamorphosis!!

The great thing about college is.. that everything is very transparent. Now I hear that, being in line with Make in India and Cashless Economy, the college DOES NOT take cash for any form of payment... All transactions are digital. One of the biggest libraries in Asia is with MIT. THe college is wonderfully vibrant and Manipal is an experience, that one would cherish forever!

GATE exam - 2010 Cleared with AIR 6027 I opted for the course on Energy Management, Auditing & Lighting because my interest lay in Illumination studies, which is a very niche field and this post graduate course is offered by just three colleges in India. Clearing the GATE exam is the best way to get into MIT, although you have take an additional MAHE test as well... But, since GATE is an all India exam conducted by the IITs, hence you certainly stand out of the crowd. The process involves... Submission of Application, Test, Counseling at MIT campus.

Energy Auditing, Mgmt & Lighting is a very niche course, offered by very few colleges in India. The domain specialization is in Illumination studies. The course is highly rigourous and very oriented towards the industry norms and requirements. The dept of Electrical & Electronics engg has a very strong collaboration with top notch companies like Philips Lighting, Wipro, CG, etc which ensures that almost everybody gets internship in the second yr.,

No.. the college does not provide internship. Hwoever, it facilitates internship which is offered by various companies such as Philips Lighting, Wipro, CG etc. The stipend offered by these companies ranges between 15-20k per month

The placement scene is quite good. Actually, once you get internship, you are expected to work hard n convert that internship to placement. hwoever, placements are offered ..Various companies do come in the second yr of Mtech to offer placements. But yeah, many companies prefer Btech over Mtech. . salary ranges from about 4.2 lakhs PA to 7.5 lakhs PA

MIT is renowned for its event.s.. The odd semester is for technical festival called TEch Tatva... This is grand festival which involves workshops, ted talks, paper presentation... technical events etc. Revel,,, which is the cultural fest is organised in the even semester and this is an Amazing out of the world experience. you have bands performing, mad ads, plays, club activities, pro Show... etc. Revels truly rocks!!

I would say , being a pvt engg college, the fee is not that expensive. However if you compare the fees to govt colleges, then its I would agree that its on the dearer side. However, the infrastructure at MIT is world class and the opportunities which you get cannot be compared to the fees.

If you get admission here, many banks would be keen to offer you a loan. THis stems from the college's excellent placement record. The university offers full scholarship to students who do well consistently.

MIT campus is a very vibrant campus. Throughout the semester, there is a buzz. Infact, it is one of the few colleges which focuses on extra curricular activities. MIT is a regular participant in the college Formula One racing cars. It also has various clubs such as Parikshit (tie up with ISRO), SolarMobil, Project Manas (driverless car), Rover Challenge team,... THe best college dance group .. Blitzkreig is a very fought after club and entry to such illustrious student activitiy clubs is very tough. Along with that there are multiple clubs catering to the creative whim and fancy of all students. A good gender ratio exists on campus. Ppl of all ethinicity, background are here and there is absolutely no discrimination here.

One of the best set of hostels available in the country. THere are various lodging options such as Single seater room, twin sharing room, single seater with common bath, attached bathroom, dormitory etc. The rooms are well ventilated, airy and regularly maintained. Each hostel has a small cafeteria which is open till wee hours of morning. Laundry service is available. The college has a lot of food courts and dining halls. Good, clean veg & Non vegetarian food is served. THere is no concept of PG here in Manipal.

The alumni network is there.. however, it is very dispersed. The college is in a process to strengthen the alumni network. Famous alumni inclue.. Rajeev Suri, Satya Nadella...etc..

Hectic schedule... and you are NOT expected to whimper and complain. You are loaded with assignments and submission, presentations, mini projects etc. Exam structure is a continuous evaluation with 50 marks for in semester evaluation and fifty marks for end semester evaluation...

THe forms are available online starting from November. The notifications are released from October mid. The admission process is very clear and transparent. If you fulfil all the eligibility criteria, then you are asked to appear for the test which tests your knowledge in MAth and your domain specialization. Results are declared and if you have qualified, then you are asked to come on a specific date for counselling. Depending on seat availability, you can choose the stream you wish to pursue.

The teachersd are very well qualified and motivated. Many teachers here are pursuing their PhD in field of Illumination which makes learning from them even better. The course on Energy Auditing, Lighting system design, Building automation systems etc are courses which you will not find in many other engg colleges. The good thing here is that classes are engaged on time and there is a strict discipline to be maintained concerning academic matters
