Remarks

Overall, I would say the college is very good, although the management should be a bit clear and faster to help the students process their papers easily. The faculty is very helpful.

Entrance Preview

I took WB-JEE. Rank 1801 I chose this college because it's the most prestigious college in west bengal and it's education life is great. I chose the course because I always wanted to be a computer programmer

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is good but not the best in my opinion, They still teach some outdated programming language and whereas most professors are helpful, The vast curriculum in only 4 years is not something to look forward to. They also have a very small set of electives mainly limited to networking and cryptography

Internships Opportunities

My college provides a very limited amount of internship, at least in the Information Technology Department. The other, so-called mainstream department like Electrical, Mechanical departments have some companies coming though I am not fully aware of the fully details as those were not my departments

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement scenario is a little bleak. In my batch, about 60% of all the students were placed. The offers ranged from INR 2.5 Lpa to INR 12 Lpa. Some of the companies and their offers in IT Department are: CTS - 3.5 Wipro - 3.2 Accenture - 3.5 Microsoft - 10.5 Adobe - 8.6 Google - 7.9

College Events

4

There are many events held in the college every year. Ranging from simple cultural to highly sophisticated management and technical events. Entry is almost always free. And there is no restriction on entry. The events range from small to large. And the events also vary from cultural drama, songs to technical coding challenges, talks with prominent figures in the field to management events in collaboration with different companies

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure in the college is extremely feasible. It is one of the lowest fee college in the whole country. The base fee is Rs. 7500. There are some extra library fees, small lab fees and such making the total to 10800 per semester. The mess fee and the hostel fees are a bit expensive totaling to about 35000 per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are some scholarships and/or loans available in the college to help out the poor but brilliant students. I do not know the details of these myself.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio in the college is very skewed towards male. In our department we had 11 girls in 54 students. The student diversity is good as people from all over the country and neighboring countries also come here to study. The students here are very tolerant. In my four years of staying I never saw or heard of any incidents emanating from differences in gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, political orientation and economic status.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel facilities in this college is very good albeit there is shortage of hostel rooms at this moment. The college is taking steps and constructing new buildings to make more hostels. For the first two years, the hostel room is shared between 4 students. 3rd and 4th years get their own room for ease of studying. The mess food quality is very good if a bit repeating food types. I did not stay in hostel as my home was nearby, But I used to pay the mess fees and take lunch in the hostel

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is good. They have a page in facebook to help out the students in the college in case of any needs. They also help the newly passed out to get oriented in the industry.

Exam Structure

The exams and labs were very hectic to be honest. In a 6 month semester, We always had the final semester exam in 4 months. The time for studying is very very less. The exams are not particularly hard if one got ample time to study. And the mid-semester examination in the middle does not help at all.

Admission

This college, when I was admitted, used to take students directly from WB-JEE. After the results were out and the results of the online college selections, I had to go to the college and fill out the form and give the college fee in the on-campus bank

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is highly qualified. And in my experience, They are extremely helpful if a tad bit busy sometimes. All of the professors I had the opportunity to work under helped me a lot. One could always contact them if in need of help in some matter.

I’d rate HIT’s placement opportunities as 7.5/10 overall. It’s very good for CSE, IT, and ECE, decent for Electrical and core branches, and improving every year with more companies visiting and better preparation programs. If you’re skilled and consistent — especially in coding, communication, and aptitude — you’ll almost certainly get placed before graduatin
