Remarks

I am grateful for being a student of GCCB. The opportunities provided are plenty, and helpful for your life further.

Entrance Preview

I was admitted to Bachelor of Commerce, Accountancy Honours, based on my class 12 Marks of CBSE where I scored 92% mark. The best of five marks are seen, and marks of maths are not compulsory to be included in those 5 subjects.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is as per Calcutta University norms and is not of the college so nothing can be said about the college. The college is strict regarding attendance, and the subjects are taught well in the classroom. So if you are willing to study, the college will provide full support!

Internships Opportunities

No internship is available, bit placements are offered. During our time almost 8-9 companies came for campusing, which is a dream for students pursuing B.Com in Kolkata, and the companies included names like Deloitte, PWC, ENY, KPMG, Wipro etc.

Placement Experience

5

The placement opportunities are really great, with salaries ranging between 15-25k, along with learning opportunities like ACCA, CPA etc. I got a chance in Deloitte, as an associate in taxation, transfer pricing department and the salary was Rs20k. Which is really great for a B.com graduate fresher with no work experience.

College Events

5

A lot of events are there to showcase your talents. Inter-college competition, freshers, college social, independence day, teachers day and lots more. Annual sports, inter-college table tennis competition. Every student can get a chance to prove their talents other than studies.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Extremely cheap. You won't believe its just Rs85 per month, as it is fully subsidized by the central government. Fees are not the issue at all. Library facility is also available under same fees, with huge availability of study material from the library. The best in class education provided in the cheapest possible.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

The Loan is not required for studying here, but merit-based and need-based scholarships are available. If you are a rank holder you may get scholarships for m.com studies.

Campus Life

3.5

College campus is neat, the environment is really friendly. The canteen is occasional, but plenty of food options around college. Compared to the fees it is more than enough. Classrooms are well lighted and are really good. Politics is nil, you won't even understand anything about parties. Best student union ever! Debate competitions are held too. Dance and singing are for fests.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

No hostel or mess facility is available. Lots of PG facilities are available with food in the nearby places, which are 10mins walking distance from college, and if you are not from Kolkata then you can stay there, the college is well connected with buses and metro, and also has the Sealdah railway station within a walking distance and Howrah railway station within 2kms.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni is really talented and helpful. Seniors are super friendly. Zero ragging. Just hit the common room or students union room if you need any help.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is as OERCU norms. 3years 3 final exams, and 3 pre-tests of 100marks paper, which you have to pass be able to sit for the finals. The computer labs are well-functioning too. The exam structure is not very stressful. 2months study before exams is more than enough. And you can pursue other courses like CA, CS, CMA.

Admission

The admission process was really swift and well handled by the college management, no hassle, no chaos, fully transparent process. The form fillup process is online. You will be chosen on merit based on your class 12 marks. And that is the only requirement, no entrance test is held.

Faculty

4

The faculty is really good, infact, the best as per other commerce colleges of Kolkata, and is generations ahead! Every faculty is a genius in their own way, and most of them have successfully published books which are followed by other colleges. I really liked the maths stat, taxation and accountancy classes.

On passing 5th semester, the students of Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration are eligible for campus placement offers. The campus reach out college during our sixth semester to interview us. After passing sixth semester we can proceed with the jobs in case we qualify. All the Big 4s viz EY, Deloitte, PwC and KPMG including with MNCs reach our college for campus placement opportunities. They definitely select students each year. The highest package offered till date is 10 lakhs with a associate profile. The average package is 3 laks. The percentage of students getting placement offer is between 5% to 10 %. My plan after the BCOM course is becoming a successful Chartered Accountant and Cost and Management Accountant.
