Remarks
Admission to the Master's course is done through an entrance exam conducted by the university. There is also a provision to be admitted through merit which is based on your undergrad marks. The eligibility for the course is having an undergrad degree in the relevant discipline. The forms are available online. Though the admission process has changed since my admission after the implementation of the CUET system by UGC.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the course to continue my journey towards becoming an academic but it was a ghastly experience that changed me. The infrastructure and the administration are in shambles, decaying like sunk ships. 450 students in a class which has the capacity to seat a maximum of 150, it felt like I was in a circus. The faculty has potential, some of them that is, but that is something which will soon become submerged in the cacophony of the rest of the faculty which is ill-equipped to deal with students at the postgraduate level. The exams were fairly easy since DU still follows the archaic method of semester exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
This is the only respite from studying at DU. The fees are nominal even with the hikes. Living is also relatively cheaper due to access to university resources. I did not avail of any scholarship during my master's but there are a number of scholarships that can be availed for students who come from less privileged backgrounds. Being a humanities course there was no scope for campus placement. They left us to fend for ourselves afterwards.
Campus Life
There are no fests in postgraduation. Though, the arts faculty is in North Campus which is housed by many embellished colleges which host fests every year. The cultural atmosphere is good, though decaying. The central library feels like it needs a huge expansion. You would not be able to find a seat and even if you do you will be disappointed by the selection of books, The south campus library is better. Though, being part of the DU ecosystem does have its benefits if you know how to avail them.
