Remarks

The course did not have any eligibility of stream from 12th std. It is required only to pass 12th std. in any stream. The last cutoff was 84%. I scored 75% in my 12th std. but had volunteered for a project initiated by the staff and students of my school "NAVAASHA" meaning new hope. Seeing my performance in this project, I was given admission into the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Since childhood, I always have had a keen passion to interact with customers and sell them different kinds of products. To polish my skills and follow my passion I took this course which gave me even more knowledge and skills to interact with customers and make effective selling strategies. Our class had around 45 students. The teachers were postgraduate and some had done Ph.D. in Marketing. There were two types of courses: General Elective Component (GEC) and Skill Elective Component (SEC). The GEC exams were conducted by Delhi University and the SEC exams were conducted by the Retailers' Association Skill Council of India (RASCI). The curriculum of the GEC courses was always specified by DELHI UNIVERSITY and was both subjective, objective, and practical but the curriculum of SEC courses was never exactly specified by RASCI. The SEC exams were always objective and practical and required only a basic knowledge of Retail Management.

Internships Opportunities

5

Internship with Pantaloons as a Retail Sales Associate Intern- sell products to the customers visiting the store. Internship with Reliance Trends as a Department Manager Intern- Observe the duties and responsibilities of a Department Manager, manage stock on the floor and learn about Visual Merchandising. Due to the pandemic, only 2 out of 4 unpaid internships for the 3 years were provided by the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee hike was never above Rs. 1000 per year and was very affordable. Scholarships depend on courses that had a huge amount of fees and there were no scholarships required for our course. The college provided us with internships every year before the pandemic and also gave us various opportunities for on-campus placements with good packages.

Campus Life

5

The annual Fest of JMC "MONTAGE" is held every year in February for 2 days when big stars come for a performance. Stalls are also put up by outsiders as well as Teachers and/or students from various departments. There were also various departmental and societal fests organized frequently. There are books from every genre and subject available in the library. The classrooms were always simple and had nothing apart from the furniture. All kinds of sports were played in our college. There were various kinds of societies also run by students which had a Treasurer, Vice President, and President from 1st year, 2nd year, and 3rd-year resp. which run the societies.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements from 4th or 5th semester. Deloitte , Bain & company, PWC ,EY, Grant Thornton (for consulting services) offer the highest package to roles like analyst and accountant. Other companies such as ICICI Bank, Kotak securities , Inshorts , Urban company,HUL, Wipro,ITC hotels , Appollo Hospital etc. the highest package recorded in 2024 was 23.05 LPA and average package as 6 LPA . 85-90% of the eligible students get the placement, the data might vary as some students opt for 4th year for their research work. My plans after getting the degree lie in marketing or consulting field.

I to be honest don't like my course much but it's not too bad also , it does allow you to have a practical exposure along side your studies. As the pressure of syllabus is not much. Teaching methods are not too good also but not bad too. The difficulty level is not much.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the curriculum on the basis of its heay emphasis on the software development part. It is not really reflects itself in the real-world application, I had to pursue other option to grow my skills. It needs to make it better in the project and application department. They need to work on some real life projects. Frequency of the exams: On the semester basis Nascom exams: Yearly basis Difficulty: Easy
