Remarks

The college handpicks its selected students from a pool of candidates based on character profile, merit, and eligibility that the students have to secure at least 70% overall in the board exams. The application form can be found on the college website itself www.thc.edu.in

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I decided to choose B.Com as I was always fascinated by learning about business and finance and all of my greatest role models hail from this field. The college takes in around 160 students divided into 3 sections. The faculty has teachers from high education profile backgrounds. They provide a good level of teaching with individual attention provided to students and also extra classes if required. Exams are taken on a semester basis. Featuring a total of 6 semesters with two semesters every year with internals. One has to study throughout the semester to score good marks.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Many ed-tech, startups, and NGO companies come for free summer internship programmes to help the students enhance their skill set for the challenging world outside the post-graduation phase. These programmes are generally unofficially shared and interested students enrol as students are not forced to take up the internship training programmes offered.

Placement Experience

4.5

The students are provided summer internship programs from semester 4 itself but paid placement packages are provided to semester 6 students. Companies like Deloitte, Genpact, Wipro, TCS, Amazon, Godrej, Axis Bank, and many other companies take in students via the placement cell with packages ranging at an average of 300000 per annum. The majority of the students get placements via the placement cells but as the majority of the students opt for higher studies so the percentage of students getting placement is around 40%. I am currently working at Amazon as a virtual customer service associate for a contractual period as I aim to focus on MBA studies as I am preparing for it sideways besides working.

Fees and Financial Aid

A fee of Rs. 35100 is charged per semester which is inclusive of all services and amenities provided by the college. The college has fixed semester fees as no hike has taken place. Fine is charged if students fail to pay the fees within the designated time.

Campus Life

4.5

The college provides a good college life to students where students have the right to take part in various college fests around the city and other states. The societies daily conduct workshops, seminars, and an annual fest. Students are provided with pdfs and online book material apart from library materials. The library features books, journals, newspapers, and magazines from various fields. Several sporting events like cricket, football, basketball, table tennis, kabaddi, etc. take place throughout the year. There is also an Annual Sports fest every year for both boys and girls. There are many groups like the Commerce Society, Economics Society, Debate club, photography club, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen my specific course (Bcom) because it is more of a comfortable course for me and it's easy for me to understand the course more easily and effectively. Although the curriculum is strong in commerce subject AI, Data analysis, Fintech. These types of emerging technology could also be enhanced. The frequency and timing of the exams are very friendly to students because they get a longer period of time to complete their syllabus and the difficulty level is pretty good as it comes under Calcutta University.

Placement Experience:

The college placements are low just like other colleges the might have chance if he /she scored good marks in every semester exams and have good skill in their streams .As I told before that I might do MBA after my B.com. The 30% to 40% students are placed by the college . The packages offered to students are between 45000 to 60000 per month.

On passing 5th semester, the students of Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration are eligible for campus placement offers. The campus reach out college during our sixth semester to interview us. After passing sixth semester we can proceed with the jobs in case we qualify. All the Big 4s viz EY, Deloitte, PwC and KPMG including with MNCs reach our college for campus placement opportunities. They definitely select students each year. The highest package offered till date is 10 lakhs with a associate profile. The average package is 3 laks. The percentage of students getting placement offer is between 5% to 10 %. My plan after the BCOM course is becoming a successful Chartered Accountant and Cost and Management Accountant.
