Review of National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur

We need to write the JEE exam. High percentile is required (in the general category) to get admission in this NIT. We need to apply in JOSSA to get it. Basically you need to choose this college from the list of colleges so that we can get it. Admission process is smooth. The only problem that I found was during the admission process, it was difficult to reach out to the helping officials, because the phone was mostly busy.

I chose NIT Jamshedpur ECE branch, because of it's lucrative placement packages. Mean is 20 lac/annum and the highest is 60 lac /annum. Personally I felt shortage of good teachers. Teachers are qualified, PhD holders from esteemed IIT's. But what they teach is incomprehensible to us. We mostly rely on you tube. We go to class for attendance. Term exams were on the mentioned time. Questions were moderate. Some questions are a bit difficult.

Oracle, Schaumburger, Paytm, Samsung, Adobe etc are some of the many companies that come for placements and internships. Students have the liberty to select their own projects and work upon them. They should be able to explain what they have done.

Placements are the reason why most people come here. Students are eligible for campus internships from the 6th sem itself. From the 7th semester, placement starts. Highest package is 60 lac/annum. And average is 20 lac/annum. Placement percentage is 98% . After getting degree, I intend to do the job that I get in the placement.

This year we had a fee hike. Cost to study is approximately 8 lac for 4 years. This includes tuition, hostel and mess fees. I had to opt for an educational loan. About campus placements, those are the center of attraction of this NIT. Even core branches soar high. Various mnc's come here to recruit students, both for placement and internship. On campus placements are good, but we can go for off campus too for better choices.

OJASS, CULFEST , URJA are our annual fests. Mostly they occur in february, march and September, when most of the students are there in the campus. Library is not that much well equipped. There are shortage of some books. Not even all genres of books are available. But the ones available are on good condition. Classrooms are well equipped. Ac classes with projectors are there. Classrooms are spacious and airy. Charging points are available in the class. Numerous clubs are available. Students might choose to go for any club they wish to be inducted into. During the induction time, there is great competition. Clubs of every kind are available. Not all but some clubs have their own website, created and maintained by the students themselves.

In the hostel, mess facility is available, lan is there, bathrooms are regularly cleaned. Play ground is there. 2 badminton courts, 3 basketball courts and 3 cricket grounds. In the common room there are facilities to play indoor games and there is a tv in the common room too. Food is average. Initially it was great but after some time the quality deteriorated. Hostel is given by default. You need to opt out if the hostel facilities if you don't wish to stay here.
