One should have a good score(75%) in 10+2 examination from the mentioned boards like CBSE, ICSE, ISC and others. Talking about the admission to JU is through Wbjee which is West Bengal's state engineering entrance exam its tough as well as easy at the same time. One can register it by the Wbjee counselling portal of NIC. The registration fee would be around 500rs and some relaxation as given to girl children and SC/ST category students. Dates are released and can be known from the official website. Previous year the cutoff was low due to low participation. Talking about mine I am from the Obc category and from this, I got the chance to study at this prestigious university (not a college) To me, the decentralized counselling round should be different from those in other IITs and Nits after 1st sem depending upon the CGPA they should be able to have upper branches.

I choose this course because my rank somewhat landed me in this branch simple. The faculty-student ratio is good in the university than in other institutes. Qualifications of the professors are the level best all are post-doc or post-graduate some are doing parallel their post and teaching us others senior professors are having a work experience more than my age seriously. Our JU belief is that the quality of the examination and evaluation process doesn't get diluted our Ju was among the first and the few who should spine of conducting offline exams because it may be bad for the students in short term but was good for the long horizon. Seriously they believe for the betterment of its students it's upon students what they understand. Exams are not easy at all they are tough but can be easy if you attend classes of the professors.

From 3nd sem folks get internship opportunities. Our department got more than 138+ offers in the current year. Companies that visited are Ongc, reliance, amazon, and other tech companies renowned ones. Mostly gets placed with average placements of 10.7lpa in our dept mechanical. The percentage of people getting placed is 83%+.

Fees hike is an obsolete thing in JU here there is the minimum fee in the world talking about the engineering scene. With merely 10500rs you get your degree and with improving your skills you can definitely land on a good pay job. What scholarship do you require nothing when the fees are much less you should not ask for that however you can get other scholarships from the state government or central schemes.

Sanskriti is the annual fest it occurs after the 1st sem or between May and June and srijan is tech fest it occurs before Sanskriti and there are sports tournaments also occurring. We have one of the largest collections of books and articles in eastern India in our central library. Most of the classrooms are well ventilated few are air-conditioned. All have projectors equipped in each classes. For sports we have tennis ground, basketball, volleyball courts, a big playground in the heart of JU where it can be seen folks having criket, football and rugby.

I don't availed hostel facilities. I resided in a rented house in close proximity to the university. This depends on where you stay moreover in a metro city it's not easy to stay in a single room. Hostel fees are minimal as I have heard.
