Remarks

The admission process in this university is merit-based. We need to secure above 50% marks in the class 12 examination (any stream) which is maintained as per the BCI norms. The online application form is available on the SNU website and the offline form can be collected from the University. The admission department is very supportive and helps us through the entire process. My admission went on quite smoothly with their guidance.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course because I am very passionate about the law and judiciary system and want to put forth my contribution to it. I feel very lucky to taking admitted to this University. The course curriculum covers everything that we need to thrive in this field. This added to the remarkable faculty members who make sure that we have a great learning experience here. All the professors have excellent teaching skills. We are provided research-based learning through mock trials, moot courts, case studies, and court visits. I am truly impressed by their innovative teaching method which helps us to gain hands-on experience working in the law field. Timely exams coupled with workshops and internships ensure that we obtain the best training from here.

Internships Opportunities

4

A 20 Weeks long internship is mandatory for our department, as per the BCI norms. It can be spread over 5 years. The faculty members make sure that we get all the weeks of internship necessary. The internship guides us to gain a better understanding of working in the judiciary department as a legal professionals. All the internships provide us with a good stipend in addition to a great learning experience.

Placement Experience

4

We become eligible for campus placement from our final semester. Over 200 companies visit the University which ends in more than 95% of students getting placed with an average package ranging around 6 LPA. Many reputed companies like Amazon, Virtusa, HCL, TCS, Deloitte, etc. conduct interviews to offer us jobs in their organization. The law students from our department are also offered placements in several big companies that have a separate legal department. Many of my seniors already got their placements and I plan to earn a similar job too.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure isn't too expensive, considering the educational facilities that we are offered here. Also, the fees are paid in installments, semester-wise, which makes it easier. The University also offers us financial assistance through student credit card facilities and scholarship opportunities. Plus, the internships in which we participate pay us a good stipend which also relieves us of the expense.

Campus Life

4.5

Our campus has a very friendly vibe. We celebrate different events here like Rabindra Jayanti, Saraswati puja, Republic Day, Independence Day, and many more. We also have our annual fest in February. The campus has huge playgrounds for sports enthusiasts to enjoy their time here. Plus, there are different cultural clubs for music, dance, photography related activities too. We also have access to a huge library with several books on every topic that we need. Our classrooms are quite advanced too, provided with all the necessary amenities. In short, we have a great time here both academically and entertainment-wise.

Placement Experience:

Number of students who have been placed is far less than what it should be ideally. Kolkata is a paradise for law practice as it is the largest city of India and lawyers have always been in demand here. Still only 30% of the students are placed here and that's a big issue considering the name of our college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main thing that I love about the curriculum is that we need to study in depth. Our syllabus contains most basic to really professional level stuff which really help us prepare for real life experiences and further academic pursuits. The only change i would like is more practical experiences that would be helpful.

After having 3 years of immense syllabus, I have finally fall in love with subject in the final as my beloved IR(International Relations) subjects finally came into my life.
