Remarks
For pursuing Btech in nit Jamshedpur you have to clear jee mains first with a percentile of 96/97/98/99(topmost). Since my course is in electrical engineering and for this, you have to score 97 percentile if you are from Jharkhand and 98 for outsiders. In every nit, there will be 50% seats reserved for state students and 50% for others. Jee main exam is held two times a year and its applications form will start from Dec/Jan. Appearing and passing out candidates (12th stand) are eligible for giving jee main. Sc / st /PWD candidates will get some benefits in exams as well as in the admissions process. They can take admissions while scoring less percentile but seats were reserved for respective categories. Improvement that I want in jee main is that it should decrease the number of questions from every section and jossa counselling process should start early so that students can't get confused whether they have to take admissions in their respective given nits or some other engineering colleges.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course because in ee you have both options you can go for core jobs as well as in non core jobs. So depending on your interests, you can take placement. Our faculty members are very good and supportive. They all are highly qualified and many are PhD holders. They are not rude and aggressive as in my opinion. Faculty: students ratio is 20:1. I like their teaching methods it was well organized you have to give ppt after the completion of each and every class. If you have doubts you can send them through email and WhatsApp. There were two exams in each semester; midterm examination and end term examination. Also, professors were taking class tests According to their wishes. It is not that difficult to pass these semester exams. Only you have to do self-study and go for the notes as studied by your professor. Most probably there is a chance to get questions from what you have taught by professors .
Internships Opportunities
Companies like Amazon, Intuit, Atlassian, arcesium, Samsung etc come to campus for internships. The stipend is around 80k- 100k. Internships are assigned projects according to the companies choice. You have to give many roles according to your skills. One of our 3rd year senior Aditi mam got an internship at Google with a stipend of 80k and her role is software engineering intern.
Placement Experience
Nit Jamshedpur is known for its placements. After the 7th semester, students are eligible for campus placement. For cse the highest package is around 40lpa and the average is 12lpa. For ece the highest package is around 38lpa and the average is 10lpa. For ee, the highest package is around 21lpa ad the average is 7 LPA. And little less or more for civil, mechanical, metallurgical, and production. Many companies have visited our campus for placement like Flipkart, Amazon, Adobe, Google, Tata Motors and many more. Also, many students opt for off campus placement. After the 5th sem students are getting internships opportunities and many can turn into PPO(pre placement offer). Almost 98% of students get placed in cse, 87% in ece and 75% in ee. After my b tech, I would like to work in the government sector as a senior section engineer in railways. And working after 2 years I want to give UPSC.
Fees and Financial Aid
Talking about fees, for all the first year students you have to pay 1,16,000 in the first semester. Then you can apply for fee remission after that from the 2nd semester your fee will be less. So from 2nd sem to 8th sem, students whose family income is less than 1 lakh they have to pay 41k including hostel and mess; students whose family income is in between 1 to 5 lakh they have to pay 62k including hostel and mess; students whose family income is more than 5 lakh they have to pay 104000 including hostel and mess. The college will provide scholarships according to your family income and cgpa. I don't have any idea regarding jobs offered by the campus for undergraduate students but PhD students and postgraduate students will get jobs on campus with stipends. Even in any nit you can get a job with stipend after scoring good marks in gate exam.
Campus Life
Culfest is the cultural annual fest and Ojass is the annual techno management fest of nit Jamshedpur. There are many fests like Vidhan, technica and Cognito. In our library, there are many books available for students up to 8 pm. There are many amenities in our classroom but since I haven't reached there due to covid so I can't say anything accurately. For sports nit Jamshedpur is best, it has a different playground for different sports like there would be cricket ground, badminton ground, volleyball group, football ground, etc. It also offers inter nits competitions so interested students would get a better chance to enhance their performance in sports. Our college will provide many clubs like:- Literary and debating club(Lds), Photographing club(phocus). National services scheme(Nss). Fashion club( invicta). Drama club( aahwan), Dance club( beats beater), Singing club(rooh), These all clubs are run by students and seniors.
Hostel Facilities
There is a hostel for both boys and girls inside the nit campus. Boys will get a separate room with a balcony from the first year and girls will get sharing room, not a single one. Mess food is good and hygienic and the menu offers everything for both vegetarian and non vegetarians. There were varieties of food. You have been given 4 meals in a day; breakfast, lunch, evening snack and dinner. You have to pay some advance money for the allotment of hostel rooms this one is for security purposes and returns after the 8th sem. You have to pay only 16k for the hostel and 16k for a mess, it is pretty affordable. No, I don't rent a room or a pg since every b tech student will get a hostel room so students don't have to take rent. And b tech students have to stay inside the nit campus only. You have to take permission from the guard for going outside the campus and returned till 8 pm for girls and 10 pm for boys.
