Ambedkar University:- Little Bit on the disappointed side

I took admission to this University because I couldn't secure admissions in my alma mater Delhi University. Ambedkar University is a state University in Delhi. For taking admission in MA History in this course you have to get atleast 50% marks in Graduation. There is an entrance exam in this course plus an interview if you are shortlisted. Also if you have completed Graduation from Delhi you will get an 85% quota in this University. The admission process is completely online including depositing fees however you have to visit University for document verification

I chose this course because I want to go into the teaching field of History. The faculty here includes 8 to 10 professors for this course. Most of the professors are quite experienced with PhDs from prestigious universities like JNU, DU, etc. There will be Internal assessments as well as assignments before you take your end-semester exams. You have to pass 2 semesters in order to pass one Year. So there are 4 semesters in total.

For this course (MA HISTORY) there are no placement opportunities provided by the University. You are all by yourself Students mostly here either go for Ph.D. or study for UPSC. Though there is a placement cell that is for MBA as well as Economics students.

Considering the course, the fees are quite high. This is not a professional course yet you are shelling out 1 Lac for this course. Though college provides scholarships to meritorious students and financial assistance to the students who are not financially well off.

To be honest, because of COVID-19 there was no annual fest as the classes were online. The library is quite good and since this is a residential University there are hostel options for outside students. Ambedkar University is currently running from the Old BUILDING of IGDTUW. The new campus is being built. There are various clubs that one can join apart from their course. There is cricket team of this University as well as a canteen that is not so big and due to COVID-19 it was shut.

There is no GD in this course. However, if you are shortlisted by clearing the entrance exam there will be an interview. In my case, the interview was taken by 3 professors online. Earlier there used to be Physical Interviews but due to COVID online interviews were taken. You have to wait for your turn and you will be prior informed of the interview date so you can prepare for the interview. They can ask questions like Why do you want to get enrolled in this course??
