Entrance Preview

GATE, I took it as a general exam which would qualify me for any college throughout India. I did not get the required score hence had to settle for non iit college. The college had a separate tests and interview along with gate score.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

Good. The curriculum is targeted basically on strong research work like robotics sensor networks image processing. It is very up to date and focuses on theoretical finesse. The electives I chose centered around multi core processing robotics and automotive technology.

Internships Opportunities

None. Basically the post graduate course doesn't encourage internship since the college has all the facilities for a decent research work. Yet some of the companies did approach the students with offers namely Intel abb etc.

Placement Experience

2.5

The college focuses very strongly on placement opportunities for students. The rough figures suggest that almost 90% of the post graduates and 100% of under graduates are placed. The companies that visit our campus are Infosys Cts Bosch national instruments cusco zoho continental etc. An average undergraduate is offered at least 3.5lac p.a while the figure is roughly same for post graduates too.

College Events

2

The college of regularly hosts a variety of technical and cultural events. Since the college is founded along the teachings of a popular spiritual guru there are also regular charity works for which the students are expected to volunteer. Some events are national level robotics symposium kalanjali.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive. The total fees including hosts and mess charges for a 2 year course is roughly 3.5 lacs. The fees for undergraduate course is even costlier coming to a whopping 8 lacs for the 4 year course. There are also management seats which cost anywhere from 8-20 lac according to the specialization chosen.

Campus Life

2

The best. The college plays host to students from all around India since it is situated in Bangalore. There are regular workshops and eminent speakers are invited to speak. It also holds charitable drives which adds value to the society. Despite being a predominantly Hindu management the college has a wide variety of students from different religious background.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

Worst. The worst aspect about the college is undoubtedly it's mess food. The food is totally unpalatable and is sometimes unfit for human consumption. The hostel rooms are sufficiently spacious and also offers wifi facility. The rental is 72000rs for a year.the rooms are to be shared between 2 students.

Exam Structure

There is continuous exams and labs to ensure that the students don't slack out. There are constant quizzes throughout the semester which are taken into consideration for the finals. Apart from that the labs are designed in such a way that it tests the students knowledge. The final exams are also designed by the college which again tests the students understanding of the subject.

Faculty

2

Very good. The faculty are extremely well qualified. Half of the staff are industry veterans and the other half are educated in well known colleges. They encourage students to undertake academic as well as extra curricular activities. The staff doesn't stick with any prescribed text book and also encourage students to create their own notes.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Mtech Thermal Engineering because I was interested in thermal subjects like Fluid mechanics, Heat transfer, CFD. The Curriculum is pretty decent and it does covers the fundamentals and advanced topics of the particular subject but it could be better in terms of imparting practical and industrial knowledge. The exams that are held in NITK are competitive and requires a good understanding of the subject. You simply cannot cram and get good marks in exam. You have to know the proper implementation of that particular formula or theory.

Campus placement conditions have improved in IISc after the inception of campus placement cell. Average package is around I would say 25 lpa. Since most of the students go for higher studies from IISc hence, you will see the placement percentage to be low. Personality I am also going for higher studies.
