Remarks
There was joint counseling for admission for all the colleges in JAC (Joint Admission Council) Chandigarh in Chandigarh. It was one day process where I was asked to report in one of the auditoria in Panjab University Chandigarh. I got selected under the defense quota so documents related to that have to be verified. Other than that your normal document 10th, 12th DOB, etc was required.
Course Curriculum Overview
Computer science is the most popular course among all engineering streams. Since this college is affiliated with Panjab University, they follow their curriculum as well and the faculty is selected with the same process and standards as Panjab University. The faculty to student ratio is around 30 since there aren't a lot of streams the college teaches and there are only 60 seats in each branch.
Placement Experience
The college's placement was barely average, companies don't usually come this far out on top of that was lockdown which caused the number of companies to limit. There were around 20 companies for all 4 streams of engineering. Most of them came for Computer Science and Information Technology stream. Major Recruiters were Infosys, Hashdin, Apptunix , Cognizant, Gemini and average package would be around 3lpa and the highest package offered was 8lpa.
Fees and Financial Aid
In this college like any other, there is yearly fees hike of around 10%, but due to the pandemic, they have to cut the fees down for the last year. As for the scholarship, there isn't any specific but there are provisions for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled tribe and EWS for need-based financial aids. They are charged a lot less for their tuition fees.
Campus Life
The college's campus is in a remote location, around 12kms from the Hoshiarpur city so the social life is limited to whatever is inside the campus. There are plenty of facilities like football, volleyball, table tennis, basketball badminton, and a gym. There are wifi facilities in the hostels but for the academic blocks, wifi is not open for public use. Classrooms are really conventions, primitive teaching methods, that is green board and chalk.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are nice, they are allotted to the student on merit basis from the second year onwards. Boys have to live in private hostels for their first year, there are enough rooms in girls' hostels to accommodate first years. The food is great if we consider mess standards, but for non-Punjabis, it can be hard in the beginning because they prefer daals in their meals. Other than that there are 2 common bathrooms on each floor, there are total of 3 floors. Water cooler on each floor and wifi facilities are also available.
