Pragjyotish College Guwahati, B.Sc, Computer Science

Reviewed on Oct 18, 2021(Enrolled 2018)

Remarks

Pragjyotish College is on of the few colleges in Guwahati that provides Bsc Computer Science. So I had to take my Computer Science degree here. The admission process was merit based and there was no entrance exam to get admission. The minimum percentage of marks to apply for this course was 50% and maths subject in 12th class. On the counselling day, all the students were seated in a classroom and our name was called on basis of our marks starting from the students who scored highest.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose Bsc Computer Science because this subject is considered to be one of the most demanding courses these days. The faculty student ratio was around 20:1. The education qualification of our teachers is very good. We have a lot of teachers with a PHD degree and their teaching style is very good. In our college, the term exams are held on a 6 months interval and the test difficulty is average.

Class Size: 12Course Fees: INR 7500 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

For my course, the admission fees were around 6000. Then after 6 months, we gave 1000, ie the total fees for 1 year is around 7000. There is no scholarship or financial assistance in our college. Also, the college doesn't have placement for jobs.

Campus Life

3.5

Our college campus is quite big and spacy. We often have college functions in our auditorium which is a bit small of the whole college to fit in. The college also has a library which has a lot of books. The college does have a sports week every year, but other than that there are very few extracurricular activities.

I like the infrastructure of our college.
Our college have enough rooms and halls to accommodate huge number of students
Digitalisation in teaching methods in all classrooms.

Dislikes

Toilet is still not clean as promised by our GS.
Lack of equipments in practical laboratories.
Cleanliness and hygiene are a bit off track.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course i.e. department of Botany because the department ensuring a strong theoretical foundations along with the practical experience. The course prepares well for students as the acedemic results is always good which will make gratutides well equipped for jobs. Some sections of the course should be updated to meet the latest technology, more guests lectures and the interships should be provided to the students. The exams clustering of multiple exams should be within times which relases unneccsary stress, the exams are conducted easy to insane which is very challenging for the students.

My opinions on PRAGJYOTISH COLLEGE

I was preparing for competitive exams like JEE and CUET , but they didn't work out and most of the colleges like Cotton , B Borah and all dosent provide BSc in computer science. I didn't got a rejectection , but the seat was completely filled by the time i got there. The process for getting admission is : After class 12 results, you have to apply in a website called Samarth , to apply in all over Assam colleges. You can apply in how many you like . In some colleges you can take addmission through JEE scores , or by CEE And by CUET also . The cutoffs aren't much high for this college, 60-70% will get you addmission in Pragjyotish college. The overall addmission experience is good , not to complex....Read More
