Remarks

I have applied to various colleges that take admission through WBJEE like Jadavpur University, Kalyani University, Culcutta University etc. I have chosen Jadavpur University from the rest because it provides excellent placement offers, a beautiful campus life with friends from different backgrounds like arts and sciences. I have a home quota as well as an OBC-b quota, which gives me a little bit of opportunity in admission. There is no minimum age required for admission in JU but you have to qualify WBJEE exam which is an age restriction. For admission in JU, there needs a minimum mark which is roughly around 90+ for students with no quota. But if any student has an OBC quota then he/she can expect a branch in JU with a score of 55+. The whole counselling process in JU is done by the WBJEE board. After getting a seat in JU from the counselling, the student should submit their all necessary document to JU via a website which will be open for a new student.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Choosing Mechanical Engineering in JU is carried a lot of reason like it is a very reputed and one the best branch in JU with its highly qualified faculties. The labs of this branch are very good and it has a workshop lab which is the largest in India. Faculty: The student ratio of our college is roughly around 1:15. Most of the faculty in our department has a PhD. Recently due to the pandemic the whole teaching process is running online, so normally it is a very job for faculty to teach us properly but our faculty does it very smoothly and effectively. JU gives 5 months in one Semester. In a semester there held two exams one is Mid-sem and the other one is the Final Semester exam. In one semester there is 9-10 subject are there. The exam is taken very strictly and maintaining discipline. Exam papers are moderately hard.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

There is a lot of internship opportunity in our campus, various core and non-core company came in our college for internship offer. They give a stipend of 5k-15k per month . Most of the student of mechanical engineering get internship offer from core company like Bajaj, Airbus, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Air India etc.

Placement Experience

4

After the completion of third year students are eligible for Campus placement. There are a big number of core and non-core companies came to our campus, some of them are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Airbus etc. The company offered handsome salary on our campus, in our Mechanical Department the average salary in this year was 7.5 LPA. 80-85% of the students are get placed in campus placement. After getting the degree my plan is to work in a good core Company.

Fees and Financial Aid

Jadavpur University's semester fees are very low compared to other NIT, IIT and other top-rated Engineering institutions. The Semester fees of our college are around 3k. I don't know about the scholarship scheme in our college.

Campus Life

4

The even semester is conducted in June/July month and the odd Semester is conducted in December. The annual fest in JU is known as Sanskriti which is celebrated after the even sem exam. In JU we have two Libraries, one is on the main campus and the other one is on the Salt Lake campus. Apart from that, we have a separate library in each department. Every library consist of many books, and Journals. The classroom is well decorated and furnished. There is a lot of extracurricular things which are done on campus like there are a lot of clubs ( Music Club, Dance Club, Debate Club, Chess Club, Science Club etc). We have a big ground sports ground and a separate court for tennis, basketball, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Badminton etc. There are various social media groups and websites are there which are run by students. Popular social media groups are like Dev-Hub, JU E-Cell etc.

Placements depends on your skills Usually there is a compulsory internship at the end of 3rd year If you didnt get it via college you should do it from outside but its compulsory And at the end of 4th year you get placement. Placemeng isnt 100% . If you have the skill you will get placed thats the criteria.many people say you are in IIT your life is sorted .but that aint the reality

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

Students generally start getting their pre-placement offers from their 3rd year after completion of their internships other students gets their placement too in their final year. Starting from Apple to Google and Microsoft too hired some of our senior but the number of the students get placed in those tech giant companies is very less but there are mass recruiters too like TCS infosys PW chaitanya education TATA steel BHARAT petroleum and many other companies the offers are made based upon the eligibility of the students and the packages are decided based on the skillset and experience of the students . Highest package was 70 LPA this year and the average packages are also pretty good based upom the companies and their offers it ranges from 15-30 LPA .Almost 80-83% students gets placed but it depends on the branch of the students and their skillsets.I want to sit for GATE exam after completion of my BTech and want to persue MTech

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university is MAKAUT so the curriculum is up to the mark. I liked Programming so I chose B.TECH in CSE. The curriculum is very basic in terms of practical world problem though they are building blocks, but you need to do the extra bit of work to qualify for the real world scenarios. I think more mandatory projects integrated with current set of skills would be a cherry on top. Exams are very frequent like every 3-4 months there is a semester exam and they are moderately difficult.
