Remarks

It was the best moment and scary moment of my life when the WBJEE result was out. I expected my rank under 600. But when I checked my WBJEE result I got shocked after seeing GMR 490, At that time my happiness level is superrrr se upperrrrr. But I was aware of the cutoff of Jadavpur University and did know that with this rank I can surely get Mechanical Engineering Department. After some days counselling was started. I didn't get any branch till the Initial phase of the 3rd round but in the final phase of the 3rd round, I got the Construction Engineering (due to my wrong choice filling). I was very disappointed and I was not sure about decentralised counselling will hold or not. But JU announced for the Decentralised counselling and I et Mechanical Engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Speaking of choosing Mechanical Engineering, well, to be honest, I must say I didn't choose, this is what I got with my WBJEE rank. Whatever, I like my branch(compromise). I liked Mechanics in class 12th. Professors are very good here, they are very well versed with the subjects and almost everyone is a research scholar. The faculty ratio is 1:10 I guess. Term exams are held in time in spite of this pandemic.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Many companies visit campus for internships. GAIL, IOCL, AMAZON, MICROSOFT etc visit campus and take a lot of students for internships. Amazon gives 80K/months, Hotstar gives 100K/months and such offers. We also have a chance for a research internship in or outside the college. Many students opt for it. research internship in IITs and since professors have close links with many bug institutions their recommendations letters are never unapproved.

Placement Experience

5

Placement in JU is extremely good, it's well above some NIT and some new IITs also. Students become eligible for internships from the 2nd year, but most students grab internship opportunities in their 3rd year. Many big companies such as GAIL, AMAZON, IOCL, PwC, BHEL etc also visit for campus placement but they require very high CGPA for their selection Total of 100+ companies visited campus in the 2020-2021 session.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees of Jadavpur University is very low, in 10K 4 years. Many companies visit campus for internships, job offers, Big brands such as Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, Gail India, IOCL, Hotstar, etc. visit campus. Many students opt for a research internship in IITs and since professors have close links with many big institutions their recommendations letters are never unapproved.

Campus Life

4.5

Sanskriti is the annual cultural fest at JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY and is one of the biggest cultural fests in East India. Apart from this, we have our techfest Srijan which is held every year in March, and we have a lot of activities at this time. Jadavpur University has a central library with a lot of books, weekly journals, and research papers produced by the super talented professor of the University. We also have departmental libraries at our respective departmental blocks. The classroom is optimal with proper lighting and cooling facilities and we have state of the art laboratories for experiments. We have clubs for almost everything in the college, students can join any club of their choice and enhance their communication abilities and learn new skills.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facilities are not available for everyone. It is given only to those students who are financially poor and whose home is away from state. So from what I have heard from seniors is that the hostel facilities are good. And the fees are too less, you only have to pay for your food because the total room rent and electricity bill is 25 rupees per month. The hostel is provided after the interview and thorough checking.

Campus Placements starts after 6th semester and majorily mass recruiters visit the campus and there are more opportunities for the cor branchs as compared to the non core because of the presence of many industries in the nearby areas. For this year, 12lpa is the highest placement in Commvault but the total placement is only around 50-60%, so my plan is to try getting off campus opportunities by the end of my 3rd year

Course Curriculum Overview:

Personally i opted for electrical and electronics instead of the branch of my choice is because my scores were not enough to secure a seat in CSE. But EEE is pretty cool as well for those willing to grow in this branch. Our curriculum exposes us to the rapidly growing sectors in the industry and educates us of all we need to know about the course in depth. If you want to continue ahead in a research field, this Institute is the most supportive. The exam questions are also relevant enough and considering we only need to actually stress over end semesters, its fair enough per semester. It would be better if our professors removed the attendance criteria rest im fine with everything else
