Entrance exam conduct but the college for the M-Tech Course in Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. I ranked 13th, among 2500 numbers of candidates. Total 18 numbers of seat is allotted for the course. I opted for this particular course in this particular college because of its Robotics Lab, the finest one in the state of West Bengal. I am an engineer who till date designs Robots and robotic gadgets.
Course Curriculum Overview
Very much industry and innovation oriented. Aspirants having dreams to design and research on robotics and advanced electronics must avail the course. Specially the equipment available in the Lab and the books in library is upto the international standard.
Internships Opportunities
No, The college only provide the cost for project if that is innovative. Lots of companies came to our college to check the projects and if they found something really interesting then they sponsor the candidate also to complete the project.
Placement Experience
We got at least three offer letters per candidate from three different companies like TCS, CTS, INFOSYS, GOOGLE, MICROSOFT, PCBL etc. etc. but most of my classmates opted for completing PhD from abroad. And some of us started start up firm with some innovative gadgets. And a little portion of the total students went to work for the companies mentioned above.
Fee Structure And Facilities
In my time, college took a semester amount of INR. 50,000/- per semester which includes everything that is necessary for the course (i.e. books, lab equipment and tools etc.) I think the college is the affordable in terms of course fees at the college runs under the Kalyan Bharti Trust which funds a lot every year in the college for its betterment rather than gathering profit from the students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Private Scholarship and Loan facility is available in the college. Many NGO visit the college during Tech Fest time and they fund candidates having a potential future, the companies also fund the student if they found someone suitable to work for them in future. Bank Loan is also available.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facility is very good. Full with centralized , cctv surveillance, gymnasium, common hall, food court, indoor play room. Hostel charges is excluded from the semester fees. Food was available in the canteen adjacent to the hostel between the time of 7 A.M upto 11 P.M at Night.
Exam Structure
First and Second Semester is Theory and Practical Subject Oriented. Third and Fourth Semester is only based on the Project. The college lab was our home at that time as we didn't like to leave that place. None of us. No one felt that how the hours passed away in a day. We were too much busy of searching a whole world of new potential research opportunities.
Admission
First the written exam. I scored the cut off marks for facing the Personal Interview session. Then there was an PI of about 45 minutes, totally on technical topics and my past work experiences. As before the exam, I was working in NTPC Projects, it was not so difficult for me and the interviewers also got impressed knowing my skills in PLC and Drives. And I got the chance.
Faculty
I don't have the audacity to assess the faculty of the college. All the people teach in our institute are from the background from different renowned MNCs and Research Institutes. Most of them have PhD from universities in US, UK & GERMANY. We are blessed that we got the chance to learn something from such kind of people. We learned a lot of thing from them which will help us to excel our skill in future.
