Remarks
I applied for VIT(VELLORE), HIT(HOOGHLY) and a few more, but as a peer review and my rank didn't allow me to participate in VIT but as a rising college AOT is very famous in Hooghly district for its placements record and teaching quality, so I opted for it. No, I didn't avail any quota for admission, to get into AOT, one must clear either JEE MAINS or WBJEE, I cleared WBJEE in my first attempt getting a rank of 18000 which helped me to grab a secure position in ECE at AOT, Admission criteria was 12th board marks- 65% and above in science background with maths and cleared cut off in WBJEE or JEE, age It should be within 18-26 years old, after clearing joint entrance I was offered Counseling, and fortunately I got my seat booked in the first counselling with any problem, Counseling was held at Netaji indoor stadium Kolkata, where there was a slot for Academy of Technology, where one can go and verify their documents and pay for the seat. And finally, I got admission into AOT(HOOGHLY).
Course Curriculum Overview
As, a kid I used to very enthusiastic about electronics device, and I as I grew up gradually I found my interest inclined towards it so it happened. The faculty of AOT is one of the best faculty members, I have ever seen, they treat their students in a very friendly way and help u in every possible way they can, faculty: student ratio is = 1:90, faculty members of AOT are Highly qualified and they are very renowned for the teaching process, the way they teach is really fascinating and easy to remember and one doesn't need to mug up things if they listen in the class attentively. There used to be a term paper every week, which helped students to review their studies and every month there used to be a small test which was taken under the guidelines of the University and as usual, there are semester exams every 6 months which was for the grading system. Semester exams are really easy as one was getting prepared for the exams beforehand, by giving exams through term paper and monthly exams.
Internships Opportunities
Companies that offered Internship offers are, SAP, Amazon, Oracle, TCS, CAPGEMINI and Internshala (website), roles offered were helper in developing team, junior software developer intern, intern for software testing, etc. Stipend provide to us were 5000-20000, and it varied time to time, we were working as an intern on insights project and helping them on client projects, rectifying fault in software and correcting it with the developer team, providing user smooth interface and interactive environment, it was an overall development for us, let it be technical or be it management. The experience we got was great and we really loved it, well some internships were unpaid but it's worth, because of the experience we gained. We really were feeling confident when we sat down for our interview and aptitude test, during placement time.
Placement Experience
From the 6th-7th semester, students become eligible for the placements and they are made industry ready. Companies that visited were TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO, CAPGEMINI, TECH MAHINDRA, DELOITTE, ORACLE, SAP, AMAZON, etc. No offers made is countable but I don't know the exact offers made, but I remember in my batch many students bagged 2-3 offers from different companies, which shows how well student of AOT get prepared for placements and all. The highest package during my batch one grabbed was 12 lacs per annum by Oracle, and the lowest Package bagged by anyone was 1.5 lacs per annum by CAPGEMINI, the average package is 3 lacs per annum, around 90-100% of students get placed in Aot during my batch, recently I have been working under TCS and as a fresher, I am gaining more and more experience and Tcs has provided me the opportunity to learn so many new things and I am really enjoying the environment.
Fees and Financial Aid
At the time of admission I had to pay 65,700 and the people who got admission through the TFW quota paid 27,500, and after that, they paid 40000 every even semester, and for the odd semester they paid 41000, as there were industrial training and much more, facility of scholarship is always available in college like this, The scholarship I git was WBFS (west Bengal Fees Waiver scheme), under this scholarship one whose family income is less than 100000 per annum, will get a fees concession, and I got 50% off in tuition fee, which helped me a lot to do many extra courses, outside course curriculum, yes there are fees hike but due to pandemic, college authorities had decided not to hike the fees, you will surely get financial assistance, yes I got an offer from TCS and grabbed a package of 3.5 lacs per annum.
Campus Life
Campus Life at AOT is the best, there is no ragging because there is a very strict rule at AOT against ragging, and one if found guilty will be punished or can be restricted from the college. So, everyone here is very friendly and helpful, the student can throw away their burden by playing in the sports complex or enjoying theirs at the pool. The annual fest that happens once a year is Arcadia and that is held on a huge scale, inviting some renowned singers at my time Sonu Nigam was invited and it was an amazing concert, and other than this there is tech fest and freshers which is also amazing. Books and journals are available and it's a huge library so one can read there and during every semester books are given to the students. In classrooms, wifi is available, with proper ventilation, and we'll furnished furniture is also available. In extracurricular activities, one can do anything they want which they can showcase in annual events, and there is Arcadia committee which Handel every event of college
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is ok, in one room one can adjust 2 people at most, either 2 boys or 2 girls, one bed one closet one fan and one tube light, food will be provided time to time from mess, meal quality was good, not bad, the menu it varied day to day nothing fixed, When I was there hostel was easy found and registered, there was no problem, yes it affordable as one had to pay 3000-5000, 3000 if you stay with someone, 5000 if u stay alone. The meal is good, you don't have to worry, even if u don't like the food, small shops are always available you can get food there, yes PG is also available there one of my friends used to stay there and it is nearby Adisaptagram station. So, no worries, and one can be relaxed about security all the people there are very friendly and helpful, you and your parent can be tension free.
