Remarks

I cleared the JEE Mains Exam with a rank of 30000. The admission process was online through JAC Chandigarh Counseling. The admission process was very simple. We had to register ourselves on the JAC Chandigarh Website and after registering we had to choose our college. JAC Chandigarh consists of 5 colleges and out of which one was UIET Chandigarh. Before the rounds of counseling, they asked for the board mark sheets, JEE scorecard, and other documents and verified them. After the documents were verified we were eligible for the admission process. There were 4 counseling rounds in total. The Last one was the spot round. After any round, if we were allocated a seat, to freeze the seat one has to pay a sum of Rs.40000 as admission fee which would be later adjusted with the college fee. After all the rounds we were asked for the final document verification after which we were provisionally admitted. Since the admission process was online we didn't go to the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The main reason for choosing Engineering was my deep interest in it. I was always interested and keen to know how things do actually work. The Faculty to student ratio here is 1:25 for every 25 students there is one faculty member. Most of the faculty members of our department are Ph.D. Holders with several years of experience in their respective fields. Some professors are even from IIT Colleges. Some Professors try to teach with their full efforts and energy but there are also some who come and just open PPT and read it. The exams here per semester are divided into three parts - 2 minors and 1 major with the best of the 2 minors. We have 2 mid-semester exams and the best of the two is taken and we also have 1 final exam at the end. The exams are moderate with not too easy and not too tough papers.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

There are various companies visiting the campus for internship recuritments from 5th sem onwards. The Major companies offer role in the Web Development fields with a decent amount of stipends. Some of the big tech giants like amazon also come to the company for interns and they offer a really decent package ranging from 60k to 1.5Lacs per month for students. They offer many roles like a Data Scientist intern, ML intern, Web Designer Intern. The roles may differ from student to student depending upon the interest of the student and the field in which they are working upon.

Placement Experience

4.5

We usually have internships drives from the 5th semester onwards. Many Companies start visiting the campus from 5th sem onwards. They take written exams and then a small interview and then finalize the candidate list who are shortlisted. Some of the companies also give PPO (Pre Placements Offers to the students. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Wipro, and many more come to the college for placements. As per the 2021 statistics 286 students were placed off-campus with an average package of 7 LPA and the highest package being 31 LPA. Over 5 students bagged an annual package of INT 30 Lakh from Amazon. Top Recruiters included Amazon, Goldman & Sachs, American Express, etc. A total of 50-65 companies visit the campus for placements. There are good placement records for CSE, IT, And ECE branches,

Fees and Financial Aid

Being a Government College and under the PU department, the Fee System here at UIET is very transparent and somewhat lenient, unlike the other private colleges. The Fee Per Year ranges down to Rs99295 and there are no other extra fees charged by the authorities except the semester exam fee of Rs2959(which may vary) before each semester's final exams. There are many financial aids and assistance given by the college itself. Some of which are the economically weaker sections fee waiver, scholarship for the needy students Some of the scholarships are: a) for BE students are: 1)Post Matric Scholarship 2)Merit Cum Means Scholarship 3)Toppers Scholarship 4)Shanti rani Sahni Scholarship b)For ME students are: 1)GATE Scholarship 2)UGC Scholarship.

Campus Life

5

One of the best things about being a UIETian is its campus life. FESTS of UIET are a kind of average with a lot of fun. We have a fest named GOONJ between the month of April and June and it is one of the best fests of UIET. We also organize musical fests on several occasions like Independence Day, Republic Day, etc. We also have many technical fests but the cultural fests here are large in numbers than the technical FESTS. At UIET we have ASIA's biggest library called the AC Joshi Library and this is a great amenity for UIET Students. We are also given our unique pass to the library with access to many facilities of the library. UIET is also known for its sports and extracurricular activities. We have many different types of sports activities at UIET and students are given the option to choose any they want. There are many clubs and societies in UIET which are run by students. Some of them are : PClub- the Programming CLub of UIET Euphoria - The Music Club OF UIET Debsoc - The Debate Club of UIET.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel booking at the initial stage would be totally based on the rank scored in JEE Mains. There are different categories like Genera, OBC, etc and some hostel seats are also reserved for each of them. Two people share one room and they can live with the person of their choice. Hostel facilities are also nice here. The Hostels are divided into blocks and some of the blocks have good hostel rooms and are near to the college while some blocks have mediocre hostel rooms and are far from college. Nearly most of the first-year students get hostel seat rest who are left are put their names on the waiting list. The Food at UIET Canteen is very cost-friendly ranging from Rs28 to Rs50 per meal. The Food System here is divided into meal basis i.e. you have to pay only for the numbers of meals which you have eaten and that's a very good thing I personally Fee.

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
