Remarks

I got into Kirori Mal College through the ECA( Extra Curricular Activities) English Debate quota. Since the 2020 admissions were online, the selection of students for the ECA quota was done solely based on certificates. I was required to submit five best certificates based on which I would be allocated the college of my choice. Most colleges in DU give a 15% concession on the cutoff if selected in the ECA quota. The counselling process is smooth and provides you with every detail required through timely notices. The time period between two notices can be considerable and can test your patience but rest assured the admission process is hassle free. I changed three colleges within DU[ based on my percentage) and ended up in Kirori Mal (through ECA quota). Thus, you can get admission both through your percentage and through your quota. There is no need to choose between the two methods. Refund of fees is a time taking process therefore do not waste your time writing emails.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose BA. English Hons at KMC due to my inclination towards literature. The faculty for English Hons. is exceptionally nice and you will get the opportunity to be in the company of professors who will guide you and provide you with different perspectives on various topics of interest. The faculty to student ratio is decent. The first semester exams were held online whereas the second semester was assignment based. The question papers are moderate to difficult and the students are generally able to go through their examination with decent scores.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The placement cell is very active in providing students with Internships. Most of the Internships provide a stipend between Rs.1000 - Rs.10,000. Internships are also available in NGO's and other social organisations, which help in building your CV. Some of the companies that provide internships are Dorling KIndsley( Subsidiary of Penguin Random House ), Classroom, OYO, Times Internet, Mckinsey &company etc.

Placement Experience

4

Since I have just started my second year at KMC, I am not aware of the placement opportunities. The placement and Internship cell is very active though and helps the students extensively in finding internships. they actively conduct seminars to help students write an impactful CV and deliver impressive interviews. Many of my batchmates have been placed as interns with decent pay including me.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

The cost of studying is very economical. Most of the colleges in Delhi University have low fees which is a major reason that bright minded students are attracted to it. Financial assistance is in the form of reduced fees for people belonging to different categories such as Schedules Castes(SC), Scheduled Tribes(ST), Economically Weaker Sections(EWS). In the online mode, you can also look for virtual internships that can help you gain experience and money.

Campus Life

4.5

In the online mode, the various student societies are something students look forward to. Some Societies are open i.e, anyone can be its part whereas some Societies select students through means of tests and personal interviews. Societies are a great way to form connections both within and outside the college. Since I am an ECA English Debate student, I was automatically a part of the Kirori Mal Debating Society. The debating circuit in DU is wide and there are a plethora of opportunities to connect to like minded people. Several debating tournaments take place with handsome cash prizes and an ample amount of new experiences. The Debating Society of Kirori Mal is one of the few Open Debating Societies In Delhi University. It also allows students from different colleges who do not have a debating society but are keen to learn and hone their debating skills, to be a part of it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The IGNOU course curriculum is comprehensive and relevant, especially for distance and open learning. Studying with IGNOU course can help in clearing your basics as well as detailed understanding of the topics. It is useful in preperation of government exams as well. The exams are conducted each year or every 6 months for different types of courses so the time to study and prepare is enough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like my course because from the beginning I had to study Political Science under Bachelor of Arts. Also, this course is taught very well in the college but if some changes are made in it like language and selection of the right professor then it will be even better. Also, the exams in the college are held on time but the difficulty level is also different.
