Remarks

The admission was merit based. For the admission, the cutoff was 91% for the department of mathematics. There was a different cutoff for the different departments. For admission to this college, we have to fillup the form then after being shortlisted I got admission in b.sc mathematics honours.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course because I love mathematics and I want to get an honours degree in mathematics. In this college, the faculties are very good. Maximum faculties are PhD holders. Student teacher ratio was 21:4. The teaching method was excellent and very practical. There was 2 semester per year and the exams were quite difficult.

Class Size: 36Course Fees: INR 35000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

In this college, the fees of our department were Rs 4500 per semester. For the next semester, you may have to pay a little more. But it totally depends on your department. If you have a laboratory then you have to pay extra fees for it. I did not get any scholarships.

Campus Life

The annual national level cultural fest organized by st Xavier's college is XAVOTSAV. This college hosts a variety of national level events, and international events as well. In this college, the classrooms are large and capable of a large number of students. The college library is very large and the staff there are too good with a great attitude and friendly behaviour. Our college has a very active sports club which organises annual premier football matches

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum in this college is uoto date, very relevant and with at par with the real world scenario, we learn about disorders, different schools of psychology and a lot more. There is a perfect balance of practical and theory, which is needed in psychology. In terms of improvement, there is always room for it, as of now there arent any suggestions from my side. The frequency of exams are fine, they give us time to prepare however I feel like as, according to the NEP, the semesters should be 6 months long but here they are cutting it short.

Placement Experience:

Students get placement offers in the first year of M.Stat. In general, however, most students prefer to go abroad for higher studies. Students who sit for placements mostly get placed in Finance and Analytics companies, typically in Business Analyst, Risk Analyst and other roles. ISI has a 100% placement record for B.Stat- M.Stat students. Companies like Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co., JP Morgan & Chase, Amazon, etc. come for placements. I thought of pursuing engineering and therefore have WBUJEE and JEE both. However, Kolkata engineering colleges apart from Jadavpur University is not worth it and since I got rejection from there, I made SXC to be the place. SXC is invaluable to me!

Admission i tried at almost all the colleges of Kolkata. Goenka was also in my mind as there the classes are in the morning and even St Xavier's Private University as well. SXC is an old pedigree!

There are no entrances like the Delhi University which I gave as well. Here admission are based on 12th percentage and the subjects that we have had. So, for general category in 2025 admission 92.7% from any board was the cut-off. For OBC it was 81 and for SC/ST students it was 73%....Read More
