Entrance Preview

In order to get into the course of my choice, I had to appear for CATE i.e. Common Admission Test of English in which i scored 1000th rank. However, the exam was discontinued in the succeeding year. I got into Dyal Singh Evening College due to it's location and proximity to my home. Being on the Lodhi Road in south delhi, the college has various happening places, like Khan Market near it which makes it a pretty great choice.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I opted for English Hons, in my bachelors which is a fairly theoretical course. It mostly includes active reading of classic novels and writers, analysis the speeches and the written text and interpreting as many meanings out of the text as one can. All this was well taught by the professors. The focus of this course is to teach and enable a student to be able to properly understand and analyse any text they come across.

Internships Opportunities

The college does not provide internship from campus but the faculty is surely helpful in assisting the students who are interested to do various summer internships. The teachers help choose the companies and kind of internship the student should opt for as per the interest and field of their choice. They help the students and assist them in whatever way they can.

Placement Experience

4

The placement cell and placement procedure of the college is really smooth and amazing. Companies like Hindustan times and Times of India come to hire students and offer up to Rs 30,000 as starting package. The students sit for placement before their final exams of final year. The whole process is a fulfilling experience.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of the course is really feasible. The yearly fee of the English Hons. course in DU is Rs. 4500, which is way more reasonable than any private colleges. In view of all the facilities and advantages received by a student, it is a really feasible fee structure that does not burden the pocket.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not availed any scholarship or loan facility from the college. However, the college does offer the loan facility at the time of admission for the students who really need it.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of the college is comparatively new and still in its budding phase. However, the alumina are still well connected to the old college faculty and staff which makes a close knit community.

Exam Structure

The exam structured is a very chilled out thing. The exams were held in the college campus only and began at 9 in the morning. The seat plans and room numbers were clearly displayed over notice boards, college gate and all the rooms. The office staff and teachers are really helpful in finding the allotted seats and rooms.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty for English is amazing in Dyal Singh Evening College. The teachers combine the work and play and make the class fun. They connect with the students and have never been intimidating in any way, hence providing the comfortable environment. The teachers are pros in clearing the concepts and do not scare away from picking up any bold topic which is an important requirement of the English Hons. course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It DU, so i think for many students it comes down to if you are able to make it to cutt off list. So my decision was based on it. I cleared the cutt off list for english hons so i took it. I wanted to make my way for govt job, so it was all about getting a degree regardless of what subject i was getting. I think curriculum just make you educated enough to get to know but its the college life that make you come face to face with the real world. exams every 6 months i.e every semester i think its good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really like Human Geography which let me to opt for this paper. Besides theory papers, we also have practical papers every semester through which we conduct surveys, interviews, research which helps us in preparing for the real world applications as well as further academic pursuits if we want to go in the field of Remote sensing or GIS. I feel that for papers including research or management, we should be showcasing how we can mitigate them or adapt in such scenarios and also make drafts for writing a research for further pursuits. However, as the time is limited it is quite understandable as to why its not conducted. We have two exams in a year and they are quite relevant and easy
