Entrance Preview

The admission was based on the graduation marks only. I have pursued my graduation in Geology so it was obvious that I would opt for this course in this great and renowned university.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum were well-designed to learn the subject in details. However, I feel that only theoretical knowledge does not help these days. Student should be equally equipped with modern techniques, state-of art technologies etc to be in line with the industry standard.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, But most of them dont provide stipends. The companies names are big and all the major players are in it, but none of them provides stipends. The companies like CIL, ONGC, Indian Oil, Tata Steel, UCIL, Lafarge and many others came for internships.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placement cell is very poor. Students committees sometimes arrange campusing on their own. College authorities are very helpful lack the pro-activeness. Some companies came and picked few students and offered about 2.0 lakhs package. Some off-campus recruitment was arranged by the teachers which had higher packages of around 3-3.5 and even 5-7 lakhs INR p.a packages.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, the college doesn't offer any loan/ scholarship facility. But Dept of Geology has two scholarships sponsored by ONGC. Other depts have same type of sponsored scholarships in the M.Sc level. DST also sponsors a scholarship to the most deserving candidates.

Campus Life

4

M:F Gender ratio is around 55:45 in Department of Geology. But in many department the M:F ratio is 40:60 and even 20:80. There are a number of cultural societies and clubs. The university and its culture is very much tolerant towards all ethnicity and race/ religions. Many students come from backward classes, ST/SC and minorities.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni has a very strong and the reunion also helps in networking with the industry leaders who are eventually alumni of the department and the university.

Exam Structure

No, exams were semester-based and the curriculum used to be greatly handled by the teachers and did not even seemed to be a burden on us. Syllabus was awesome and very interesting to draw the attention of the students. The lab facilities were very good and arranged in a orderly manner to ease our task.

Admission

They have asked us to submit the mark-sheet with the filled in form. And then the merit list was published. Then they asked for the counseling on a specific date and on the basis of the counseling, the final merit list was published and they asked to deposit the admission fee on the specific date.

Faculty

4.5

Faculties were quite capable and very much knowledgeable and student-friendly. Some subjects were covered by guest lecturers, who were equally capable and some of the big names in their domains. Though I feel that the faculties should put a focus on some-application based syllabus and curriculum.

The future job profile for this subject is quite good. That's why I selected this course. The faculty: student ratio is 1:8 The qualification of all the faculties is PhD and their teaching method is very interesting. There is 3 exams (2 internals and 1 semester) in a six month semester. It's neither very easy nor very difficult to pass the exams.
