Remarks
I applied for many private colleges such as IEM, Techno India Main and also state government college BUT Sindri but finally chosen NIT JSR because it is better than that all. I took admission in the general EWS quota with AIR 22089 in the ECE branch through JOSSA counselling. For GEN students, to get ECE through JOSSA counselling in NIT Jsr you should have ranked above 19000 and if you are GEN EWS you should have ranked above 23000. You should have nearby 150 marks out of 300 in JEE Mains 1st attempt of that year to achieve that rank. The age limit is as per Jossa criteria. The admission process is completely online and counselling is conducted by JOSSA and CSAB. JOSSA conducts 7 rounds of counselling whereas CSAB is for filling the vacant left seats and it conducts two rounds of counselling.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course because I have a keen interest in Electronics Material and Computer-related activities. This branch has both opportunities. The faculty: student is good. Almost all the teachers are PhD holders and most of them are IIT or NIT graduates. The teaching quality of all the teachers is not good but some teachers are really dedicated towards students. There are two exams per semester - mid sem and end sem. Exams are subjective type and quite tough but the passing percentage is good above 90%.
Internships Opportunities
Many students get internship opportunities from the college from the 3rd year onwards. The stipend is also given by many companies. You can also apply for an internship from the very first year. Students go to Amazon, TATA, Groww, Smartknower etc. Many students learn skills and are used to do freelancing also. Seperate placement and internship cells are also there who is responsible for looking at internship and placement opportunities for students.
Placement Experience
Placement is said to be the best part of this college. Placements start to form the 3rd year and many students get PPO and upto the 8th semester, more than 75% of students got placed. Most prominent recruiters include Microsoft, Amazon, DE Shaw, Samsung, One Plus, Paytm, Ola, HP, TATA, Adani, Oracle, etc. This your nearby 400 offers are made with the highest package of 37.5 LPA given to a CSE student by DE Shaw and the 2nd highest of 30 LPA is given to an ECE student by Amazon. The average package of CSE is nearby 15 LPA and ECE is 11.37 LPA. Core placement is not good here. Overall average package is around 7.5 to 8 LPA. Many students also choose to pursue higher studies and many also start preparing for civil services.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees per year are Rs. 208000. But if you have income less than 100000 then you can get full tuition fee remission and you have to pay nearby 83000 per year and if your income is between 100000 to 500000 then you will get 2/3rd tuition fee remission. You can also apply for one more scholarship among Ekalyan, ONGC, FFE, NSP or other scholarships that are available. For getting a stipend various paid internship opportunities are available. College provides after 2nd year but you can apply externally from the very first year.
Campus Life
Many fests are organised throughout the year. CULFEST, OJASS, URJA are the main fests and apart from that many branch fests are also conducted in regular intervals. There is a seperate library available where large categories of books and journals are available. Classrooms are fully equipped with High-tech facilities. All types of clubs are available and you can definitely get one club that matches your interest. Dance, Photography, Film making, Acting, Drama, Singing, Fine arts, etc, whatever you like you will definitely get one club for it. There are 6 technical clubs that seperately works on aeroplane designing, solar vehicles designing, formula car designing, drone making, etc. All these clubs are run by students headed by Student Council. Social work teams are available includes NSS, Sankalp, etc. There is a programming club also that helps in learning and conducts competitions on coding, Web development, Android development, etc.
Hostel Facilities
Mega hostels are there and all the students get a room and from 2nd-year onward you will get seperate rooms. Rooms are also largely equipped with internet facility but there are connection issues most of the times. Mess is said to be the best part of this college and food quality are better as compared to most of the other colleges. You have to register for hostel and mess during semester registration. As all the students used to get hostel rooms so there is no need of thinking about a rented rooms or PG.
