Life in IIT (ISM), Dhanbad

Reason why I preffered this college was that I had applied for a few colleges out of which I got selected in this. To take admission in this college we were supposed to have scored 75% marks ( 65% for SC/ST students) in 12th grade. They admit students to the course on the basis of JEE Advanced scores followed by JoSAA Counselling. Admission for the course generally starts from July. The admission process is simple. I preffered the online mode where I filled my application in the official website of the institute and attached the required documents. Then I paid the application fee and submitted the form.

Course curriculum is well set, and is perfect for us to aquire the logical and practical knowledge. The faculty here is very nice. Even at the time of pandemic they are giving their best and trying to teach us in the bestest way we can grab. We have exams semester wise. The exams level is average. The minimum OGPA for graduation is 5.0 and passing grade is D.

We are offered many internships. I did an internship at Amazon for three months. My role was of a Software Development Engineer. I was responsible for evaluating the system performance and design and develop software and applications for computer. I earned upto 7500 every month.

After the sixth semester students are eligible for campus placement. Big companies like Google, Flipkart, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs,etc. Almost 90% of the students get placed. Highest salary package offered was Rs 45,00,000LPA whereas the average package offered is around Rs 9,00,000LPA. I plan to get a job as well like my seniors through campus placement.

The fee for the course is fine and is worth paying when the facilities of the college is so good. There is no fee hike policy available. Scholarships are also provided by the college like MCM scholarship etc. We also get to do internships under renowned companies.

Campus life here is very good. Our classrooms are well equipped with latest technology gadgets. The centre library is the heart of the institute that provides academic and research supports to all departments.We have 24*7 medical services. There is unique infrastructure on campus for outdoor and indoor games and sports. Astronomy club, Electronic club, Books club, Literacy club - English, Music club etc are some of the clubs organized and run by students. The biggest fest of our college is Srijan which lasts for three days and is held in March every year.

Hostel facilities are amazing. The rooms are well spacious and organized, and one room is occupied by two. There are nine hostel in total, seven for boys and two for girls. Each hostel has its own mess, gym, laundry etc. The food in the mess is fine having both veg and non veg options. The staff of hostel is very cooperative and helpful. All the hostels are fully secured.
